With Polaris we can have a N/A with 181 HP while your N/A is 165 or we can have a Turbo at 188 HP while you get 180. Easy win for the Polaris no matter what we do. I can even buy a Polaris 850 and still get the 171HP and save about $3000. Nice to have choices.
the funny thing about these number is that if you owned polaris or any other sled that made the numbers your talking about here, would you not post them? These are great number, amazing numbers, however polaris does not mention any of them, in fact they don't even claim they are the best power to weight ratio, why is that? You are right with one number in the above quotes, but the sled your quoting it for is wrong. If I made a production sled with warranty out of the box with 188-190 hp, I would write that across the sled, in fact that is what it would be called. Ha Ha

Wow a guy on the skidoo payroll is in the polaris thread questioning hp numbers. Guess that tells us all we need to know.

Yup money can buy you a ride that will take you almost anywhere. Rider and ability trumps buying a ride anyday of the week. Wonder how many guys would make it up the Holmes/Chalco creek back way into Renshaw on a 1980 Ski-doo Safari 377 fan cooled short track barefoot? Granted it was spring riding. And then spend the day touring including up and over the saddle and notch. Just saying.....
I’ve been on some of those Holmes River access rides years back, some of the Guys on the Big Iron find it frustrating when a Fancooled gets through the ugly stuff before they do🤓

Go take your impact driver and remove the skidoo hood.... Clown. if you havent paid attention to the other Skidoo pages and forums, you'll see that MANY skidoo turbos (2020.5-2021 and 2022) are locking up at 2100-2600km. Go comment there on why you get paid by skidoo to promote them...

Lol, tell us how you really feel. I'm pretty sure I feel the same way.

Doo's way of marketing is a double edged sword. They are very good at making their customer base BELIEVE they are the best. Some people, even some members here really push the rhetoric. Some others believe it and join in, some don't care and buy what they want. Then you have customers like me. I used to ride Doo, realized I was lied too, can see through their BS and won't be buying a Doo because of it. I'm not brand loyal, just Anti-Doo. Best part about switching from Doo is too see the look of disappointment and betrayal on a diehards face.

BRPs corporate philosophy has definitely changed over the last decade. Seems like they have pulled money out of R&D and engineering and put it into marketing. Like who approved the new gen 5 design with the right panel 4 inches wider than the left one? Going to be like Nascar this fall, only be able to turn left, otherwise the sled will panel out turning right.

My biggest beef isn't with the design of the sled though, it's how BRP treats their dealers that frustrates me. I get really sick of reading the stories of long time dealers being booted to the curb, where dealer owners now face the forced closing of their businesses and product owners are stuck without a local dealer.

all these great comments on me, but still crickets on the numbers from the manufacture, do they know the numbers but are not saying , is that good or bad, interesting, I am just wondering why you guys don't feel a true answer from the guys who actually build the sled is needed. I just find that strange. I like all sleds, Polaris has a great one, just asking why no numbers? Real Numbers

Seems like brp marketing plays the number game to suit itself as it seemed to go up each year ... What's the published HP (SAE or metric) for each at sea level?

800 etec
850 etec
850 turbo
850 turbo r

Now compare to poo (same baseline - sea level in the same units:

800
850
850 Boost
900 R

These numbers have to be published in order to be certified for emissions!
Regardless it's pretty much a pissing contest. In fairness, all the new sleds are great and most comes down to personal preference ... Most riders likely cannot ride to the level the sleds can provide.

Me, I'm not prepared to spend the type of coin they want for new.
Both build a lot of hype. Still bashing an updated 16 pro (18 for a backup) and the only thing holding me back at 53 is agility and ability. Got on my buddies 17 summit 850 for a few moments again today and while the engine is great suffice to say I'm not a fan.

Kinda funny how both camps have some crazy awesome sleds, (sorry cat, your no longer in the game) yet we’re both still bashing the other guys sled. Anytime someone try’s to celebrate their sled of choice, there is 10 people there to bash it.

I can pretty much guarantee if there was a doo guy and poo guy from this site riding together, they would be complimenting the other guys sled. That’s how close I think they are.

My friend snowchecked a Ski Doo 165 Expert Turbo R. Loaded up including the fancy screen and he was $26,000 out the door. $1500 less without the screen.
Id like to see the dealer sheet on that as I checked with 2 dealers and was considerably higher with the large screen. That is the cheapest price ive seen yet, so your saying without the gauge its $24500 OTD, Don't think so, unless he is an Ambassador.

Numbers are just that, numbers. at 1 specific point in the RPM. Area under the curve is what matters, with ALL engines. Useable Torque at all RPM's HP is just Torque over time. Just cause a engine hit a high number, doesn't mean it will run well. Heck, I can, and have built sled engines that hit 170+HP in a 670cc. On a Dyno. But narrow peaky power band. Super wicked for 660ft drags. But up in the Mtn's, she sucked ballz. Not always about the "number" Maybe thats why Polaris isn't releasing it. Who the fuk cares!!!. Let the performance on the hill show. Then if the numbers do come out, won't ya be eating crow when the Poo beats the Doo in performance but has less HP. Just sayin

Is that like when Doo claimed the 800etec was 163.9HP and then when the 850 came out they said it was 165HP, 10 more than the 800 etec? I'm no Mathemagician but Doo's numbers have never been "real" imo.

Doo's propaganda is a neat marketing strategy, I'll give Doo that. Your comment is a perfect example of projection. Projection is a defense mechanism in which an individual recognizes their unacceptable traits or impulses in someone else to avoid recognizing those traits or impulses in themselves. Like I said in a previous post, I was lied to enough from Doo. I'm done with BRP. I'm being lied to by Polaris too, they just aren't as smug about it.

I bet Doo's 800 vs 850 numbers are probably more accurate than people think. I still believe the majority of performance increase the G4 exhibits of the XM comes from reduced rotating mass on the track. 2 HP may very well be accurate
