Have a new f-350 with 3000km and its in the shop for a second time with a vibration. Vibration starts at 110km/h and gets worse the faster you go. Ford changed three tires, driveshaft, pinion bearing and still going. There talking to the engineers, guess they can engineer me a new truck. Anyone have any issues like this with there new fords? Thanks Braaap

I had a bad u-joint in my driveshaft on my 14' and it was similar to what you mention but you eliminated that.. If it's ford they'd cover the obvious as they have and now bearings and such..

Are they able to balance the tires? Why only 3?

My 17 has lane assist and if i'm not paying attention my wheel vibrates if i wander onto the mustard or mayo....

Sorry to hear about your Ford. Did it do it right from new? When they decide to stop throwing parts at it, they will eventually install a vibration monitoring system with sensors mounted in different places in order to pinpoint the source. They'll split it between engine, driveline and frame. They'll find it. It can take time though.

Mine 14 has always had a slight vibration, can't get rid of it, it's tire balance related, as big as these trucks are they seem pretty sensitive to tire balance.

A lot of people do not know that a lot of aftermarket wheels for a ford the hubs are too big. Fords are hub centric not lug centric like dodge and gm. Very few aftermarket have a tight fitting hub. So if you have aftermarket wheels this can be very difficult to balance out.

Find a tire shop that road force balances tires. It will calculate the runout in the rim, and the tire and clock the tire to the rim. Fixed the problem on two of my trucks.

My '13 has the same issue and it is tire related. Basically, the tires aren't round. The Road Force Balancing will find the problem and it may take new tires to fix it. When I have a load in the box or my holiday trailer attached, there is no vibration. I got rid of the after market rims and put on a set of Ford take-off 20" rims. Still a little vibration and with a new set of winters coming up I will see if there is a difference .

The have changed three of the tires because they failed the road force tire balance. Everything is stock and has barely seen any off-road use yet. First thing they did was put the vibration analyzer on it and it all points to tire vibe. Very frustrating when the dealership is out of ideas.

There are service bulletins about the fords and some do require "road force" balancing... I had an f350 that i tried to balance 3 times at my own shop, then tried another shop, and still shimmy above 100kph and got worse the faster it went. Finally stumbled across the technical service bulletin and had it road force balanced, and the vibration was gone!

I had the same thing happen to my brand new off the lot 1998 Chevy pickup, back in 1998. Changed tires, rims, brake drums driveshaft, u-joints, axles, nothing helped. Finally one day they put the truck up on a hoist and suspended the wheels off the ground so they could spin the wheels to the speed where the vibration was happenin. When they got the truck up to the speed where the vibration started they started to add mechanics from the shop into the box of the truck for weight. After about 5 mechanics were in the box the vibration went away. In the end they said that the saddles on the axle where the leaf springs are bolted to would have been welded at the wrong angle and thats what caused the driveline to vibrate, the driveline was too straight. The whole process was about 6 months of head scratching. They put a whole new diff in and no more vibration.

2 1/2 weeks later still no truck and the engineers still have no idea on what to do. Is it unheard of getting a hole new truck from ford? Getting ready to give up and get a dodge. HaHa

No, i have friends whose truck was f150 eco boost. Last year they got it new. Many didn't engine problems. After stripping other trucks on the lot for parts, engineers coming, etc they got it running but still rough. They fought and for a brand new one again. They initially bought a new platinum, were given an xl or xlt to drive while making platinum payments on a truck they couldn't drive for 3 months... Keep fighting and don't accept a faulty truck.
