So I was thinking of being smart and getting a 600 or an 800, but in the back of my mind, I do have this want for the insane level of power. I found a decent deal on a 2012 Arctic Cat M1100 Turbo with 500 miles on it and the guy is asking $9,000 firm. Being that a 2015 is close to $18,000, that seems like a decent price lol. Currently I'm on an '01 Mountain Cat 1000, my sled prior to that was a '98 670 Summit X (should note I only had the 670 for a week before I decided I missed the power of a 1000, there was some financial issues that forced me to sell the Summit 1000), and before I had that I had an '06 Summit 1000. I'm only 5 ft 8" and 175lbs, but I love the power of the 1000's and I'm thinking to myself that as much as I'd be better off on a 600 or an 800 sled, the M1100 Turbo still has to be way better for maneuverability than anything I've had before, doesn't it? So just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on a 2012 M1100 Turbo Sno Pro 162". Also, any known issues with these sleds?

Unless it's got a bunch of stuff on it, $9 isnt a real deal.
There are a whole list of 1100 haters, but with some tuning I hear they work pretty well.

They are heavy being a 4stroke but they make good power. Some did have issues with blowing belts.

I have one with a 2.0 boondocker,mrbp boost tubes,and 2.5 exhaust. This thing is fun. I'll take it over dads 12 m8 any day. That includes running through the trees. With the low end torque you can just putts through the trees and if in need the power is there. Yes some 12's had belt problems but the venting and updates helped with mine. I'm only 5'9" and I have hardly any issues riding it. The only complaint I have is the power is addicting.

That'd be my biggest complaint with the Summit 1000. The power and low end torque was very addicting. I have so many different options I'm looking at, at the moment. I just can't decide what I want. It doesn't help that I'm not brand loyal either. I'd happily ride Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo, or Polaris.

I have a couple buddies with 1100t's. The power is fun but both have spent a fortune on belts and trying to fix the belt blowing issues, the smaller guy has trouble manoeuvring his and has become almost a pure hill climber as a result. I find the handling to be about as good as my old Summit 1000, good in deep snow and terrible on setup snow. The 2013 1100t goes to the dealer after every weekend to try and figure out the belt issues and he is ready to dump it after riding my XM.

Every guy it know who has one would give there 1100 turbos to you if you asked them. They all like the power but can't afford to buy belts for them.

Well, as much as I'd love the power, after reading some more stuff on them, I think I'd be better off with the stuff I was originally looking at. 600's and 800's.

If you have a $9k budget you should be able to get a Pro or XM if you hunt around.

Yeah, granted it is a few years old, but I found an extremely low mileage (under 400 miles) 2011 Pro RMK 800 163" for $8,000. I'm hoping I could convince the guy to take $7500. $9k is actually a little over budget for me, but I could make it work. I'd be okay with a Rev XP as well.

It is. And yeah, my friend who has had an '08 Summit 800 and now has a '14 800 Pro RMK 155" always hated my 1000. He thought it was too much of a tank. I quite enjoyed it and then right as I was starting to get used to the weight of the 1000 and learning how to throw it around, the trailer we were borrowing from my friends dad got stolen and I couldn't afford to pay for half of a new one, and it wasn't like my friends dad was going to buy us one. So I had to sell the Summit 1000, and that's when I bought the 670. Then, as much as I liked the 670, I figured that all cleaned up, I could make some money off of it. So I sold it for $750 more than I paid for it and then bought the Arctic Cat Mountain Cat 1000......I still really miss the Summit 1000.

Nope, ironically I'm an insurance broker, my friend is an insurance broker, his dad was an insurance broker for 20+ years, and yet he didn't have insurance on his snowmobile trailer. Not that it mattered. Even if he did, he wouldn't have given us the money for it or bought us a new one because it was his trailer and he had no need to replace it. And I think even if there was insurance on it, the payout would've been less than $1,000.

I've got a 2012 M1100T Sno Pro 162. Bought it from T&T in Bonnyville, they have done all the services on it and installed the speedwerx kit with the 177, 240, 260, 177(87 octane) ecm mapping. The sled hasn't had a problem with belts with there being just over 1800 km's on the original belt. Put the secondary update on and installed a new belt. Over 2100 km's on the sled with no issues. The sled is in the classified section if your interested in a 1100 still. I ride with the GBCA when work hasn't got me stuck out in the bush some place.

Dumb question, where is the classified section? Would you be able to post a link to it? I might still be interested in an 1100. Especially one that was setup properly like yours sounds like it is.

Nevermind. I found it. Nice sled! I'll definitely keep it in mind...... next dumb question....how hard is it to remove handlebar risers? Being that I'm only 5 ft 8", I think the 9" bar risers might be too tall for me.

Another happy M1100T owner here as well. My 2013 162 Ltd came from T&T in Bonnyville, have yet to blow a belt. Mine is jacked up with a BC280 turbo from Evolution Powersports, some lightweight goodies and a C3 Syncrodrive belt drive. Our "backup" M800 162 S/P Ltd usually stays home or sits in the trailer all by itself.
Half of the issues with the M1100T is poor dealer setup, and clutches that were not aligned properly. Other problem is they are not clutched / geared as a trail sled, yet half of the owners trail ride / lake race them. If it is setup for the mountains, it will work VERY well there. BTW, my 5'2" wife can ride it in the backcountry and she does well. For reference, her sled is a PRO RMK...

I should mention I also got mine from t&t and the service was/is awesome there.
