Most places recommended keeping the ring. Harmonics for the crank. But lots run without I chose to keep the ring snd put on the ZRP billet cover.

Mines the 800zuki engine and I have a 911 cover

I spoke too soon, my 2018 clutch had an issue. I was riding and when I stopped there was a squeel from the belt. I pulled the belt off and found that the bearing the belt rides on was tight to turn. I got the sled home and pulled the clutch. The bearing turned freely once the clutch was removed. I couldn't see any issues with the movable sheave. I looked in the taper that goes on the crank and there is a definite issue. It looks there is a crack around the radius. I even looked at it with a bore scope. I may have dodged a bullet. The crank is perfect yet and the runout is 0.0005. I will put the 2016 team clutch back on for now.

Neighbour kid has a 2019 Alpha. Had to get new clutches put in. Not do to cracking but the driveshaft nut fell off and went through the clutches wrecking both. Apparently it’s a common thing? Might not be a bad idea checking that nut.

The 911 fixes the internal clearance issue, but you need a special socket to take the spider jam nut off. Also you may need to machine the threads off the spider jam nut collar for clearance.

One thing I noticed is that the 2018 clutch has a spider jam nut that is twice the length of the spider jam nut on the 2016 non-roller team primary.

I’d guess that if the cover is cracked, there maybe others.
The cover won’t prevent existing cracks from expanding. A new cover from the start is best.
911 is the strongest and best cover so if the customer goes with the new cover route, the 911 would be the best insurance.
With a possible back order issue of clutches, it would be interesting to know how long a clutch will last mid life with a 911 cover. Keep us updated.

ZRP is who I went with, I like the idea of the air flow to help keep primary clutch temp down. No modifications needed to run the cover. They recommend getting it balanced to keep the warranty on their work. As you would want to do with the 911 cover as well.

My 911 installed on my Hardcore. Made my own socket. Had a friend machine the threads off where the jam nut goes.
