How???

I've tried all "Home Depot" chemicals.
I've tried Borax and sugar.
I've watered the he77 out of the little buggers.
I've even pizzed on them at the suggestion of the "Internet".

Not tried yet:

Boiling water - would kill the lawn, ants better.
Orange oil - do not know where to get it.
Grits or cream of wheat - $$$

How he77 do you get rid of ants in the lawn!!:rant::rant:

We use Creepy Crawly, or Crawler...we get infested. In the country, lots of trees and dry...they love it here. We even had them in our walls of the house big time! The only thing we found worked was Creepy Crawler, orange and white can. Other peeps on here said Dr Doom works too. Gotta spray the chit out of the nest then do it again few days later for a couple weeks to make sure you get the dudes that weren't in the nest the first time. :wtg:

Malathion is hands down the best ant killer going. Available at the Co-op or Ufa, not sure about home depot or revy. Been using this for a few years now and it has had a 100% kill rate for me, any ant pile will be dead in a couple of hours. This isn't even recommended for ants, it is used for killing bugs on your plants or bushes. Will not harm your lawn.

Ant Out powder works for me but be diligent as they just sort of move! I don't think it kills them anymore. Dale has the good idea (UFA) and ask!

It is getting harder and harder to get the good stuff these days and pretty soon the greenies will have us mowing weeds instead of using spray!!

Good luck.....

I was asked to get rid of some worms in a lawn and found out this works for ants also lol.

-take a extention cord and cut the end off one end
-find two steel rods about 12 inches long
-split the cord so you have about 5 feet of the insulted wire hanging out (remove the outer cover)
-take the white wire and and strip back the insulation and use a hose clamp to hold the bare wire to the steel rod.
-do the same with the black wire to the other rod

do yo see where Im going with this??????

-push the rods into the ground about 5-10 feet apart or closer if you have the ant nest in sight.
-water the ground with a sprinkler or hose
-remove the sprinkler
-plug the extention cord into a plug outlet.......but it has to be a inside plug so it is not a GFI plug or it with just trip the breaker.

oh and dont stand on the wet ground when some one plugs it in......and keep all pets out of the area!

I find about 1 minute, makes them smoke!

dont let the kids play with this when done! if you have worms they will come shooting out of the ground but remember to unplug the cord before going near!

Quit feeding your uncles beer and your ants will follow them when they leave.

Who in their right mind would wanna get rid of worms.....:confused:

X2 :(

Overkill....hmmmm, starting to understand why you have that name
And quit fricken killing worms lol :nono:

Couple comments above are sooooo true Retodd...gotta get them late night or early am before the workers leave the nest for the day...and they will move to a new nest if you give them a couple minutes...crazy how quickly they can pack up a nest/eggs/5000 buddies and relocate!

We've also used the bug be gone spray and it worked.
We used the Ant Out powder for 3 years trying to get them out of our house walls...that was the 'advised' way for in the walls...then we finally got pizzed and sprayed the chit out of the entry and thier path with Creepy Crawler and that day they were done!

They had a beaten path across our lawn to their satellite nest...they have a main nest for queen and eggs...and satellite nests for the workers when the main nest gets too big. If you only kill the satellite nests, the main nest will still grow and set up more satellite nests, so it's good if you only have one main nest or you gotta track them and find the others!

Electrocuting everything in the ground in a 7 meter radius seems a little extreme and somewhat dangerous...although I must admit my favorite suggestion :d

A common suggestion has started to trend out here...I'm leaving for Wabamun in 30min, I'm going to stop by the UFA in Spruce Grove and get the "Good Stuff".

Thanks all...keep the contributions coming cause if the "Good Stuff" fails me I'll need a few more ideas before I wreck and extension cord and go steal rebar off my own construction site :eek::eek:
