Wow haha the on going battle of the snowmobile trail vs the Atv riders haha. Well when we had our little trail here in cold lake (Not sure if its still going) We had signs all along the groomed trail saying no atvs or Dirt bikes (Quads with tracks where allowed). They even wrote in the papers (Cold Lake sun, Bonnyville nouvelle and the base paper) warning people, saying if they where caught on the groomed trail without tracks that they can get fined (If I remember 150$). The cops made frequent trips back and forth the trail with there sled and actually inforced this.

Now on the Iron horse trail, im sure quaders are allowed on the trail, tires spinning or not spinning its up to you to suck it up. ATV (All terrain vehicle) Can't really tell the quadders off since there vehicle is allowed to go all season. Personally I hate trails for snowmobiling. I think trails should be made for quadders when snow is too deep for the quadders. And a snowmobile is made for powder snow.

Just an opinion tho.

Do you think clubs have trails groomed for quads? A lot of money is spent to maintain trails for sledding. I quadded for years and years and never rode groomed sled trails. Same deal as. 4x4 truck running your quad trails, big ruts the intended user is not equipt for

They must... In the east they have groomed trails for quadders and seperate groomed trails for sledders... WHICH IS SMART!!!!

Thats a good question, but I think if there are signs there saying "No ATV's" That pretty much sums it up. One could check with the municipality, or contact AHVO?

I see a thread Alberta Beach Family Day ride.

I asked quads, sleds,sxs.

Earlier this winter we went to the quad poker derby in Alberta Beach all quads and sxs.

If someone put up No Trespassing signs on Crown Land does that mean no one can go on it?

There is a separate trail system for the ATV rally from the Snowmobile rally. The Groomed trails are for snowmobiles only. People pay money to upkeep the trail system to make the snowmobiling experience more enjoyable. The trails are well marked as to NO ATV's. As to who owns them it it crown land lent to the clubs in question for the specific use of the club for its members and trail pass purchasers. I quad as well but if you are going to be too ignorant to respect the work that the groomers and trail maintainers have put into the trails then we have a large disagreement. Why do you feel the need to destroy all the hard work of the Snowmobile clubs? The clubs were the ones to advocate for the use of crown land not you, you are just being a parasite and have no value to add. The Lac St. Anne ATV club and the Alberta Beach Snowmobile clubs work together to provide trails for use at Stanger Hills but when the trails have enough snow and the groomer is out ATVs have no business being out there. It is just common respect for each other. If you feel that you need more year round trails then you should get involved with the various clubs and help out. What!? you are too busy and can't be bothered to help then perhaps you need a lesson in manners, eh? My opinion is my own but I share it with many people. It only takes a couple of knuckleheads to spoil it for everyone else, in a word "Thanks"( insert sarcasm here)

I was out there on saturday also and the quads tore up the trails. Yes there are signs saying no atvs its for snowmobiles only. On a side note the trails were rough already as i was out there last weekend also but nothing compared to how they are now.

I stop every quad group I see and ask them why they like to destroy the trail. Plain and simple they all just don't care and wait for me to quit bitching so they can leave. One guy said to me sleds race around all hours of the night by houses and piss off everyone so he felt the right to ride the trails on a quads. People are f";ked

Well maybe the quadders need to get off their asses and clear some trails, raise some money, buy some equipment and set some trails instead of ruining the hard work that someone else has done. They seem to act like a group of junior high dropouts.

I have put in 250 volunteer hrs into the Alberta Beach trail system since Sept, so snowmobilers have a place to ride in the winter and ATV's have a place to ride in the summer and I am only one of many volunteers. We will be out for 2 days grooming this week as we have in the past 6 weeks. Cost to run the groomer is 100.00 per hr with volunteer labour. Lets work as a teem and respect what each group does. We cross private property on the trail in 4 spots and only trail pass holders are allowed and others are tresspassing who could be fined 2000.00. The trail pass holders pay for insurance to protect the landowner. I love both sports and we have a battle to keep what we have from the non particapants. No one wins if we fight and fine. Just asking for respect.

So... quads/sxs are all bad, or just the ones with tires??

quads and side by sides are not allowed on ASA sanctioned trails due to insurances, as Marvin has already said Alberta Beach has a group of VERY dedicated volunteers who put in their OWN time at NO PAY to maintain this trail and keep is safe for snowmobilers. These trails are designed to be used by all age brackets from 6 to 96 and beyond, they are a great place to get out and enjoy the day.

As Kbrunlees as already stated, ATV club and Snowmobile club do share sections of this trail, but there is an understanding between the 2 clubs that once the snow is falling and the groomer is out, the ATV club stays off the trails. It sure would be nice if other ATV users can use that same mindset.

I am also a quadder, and once the snow falls, the quads get put away, and the sleds come out. That's the way it goes.

The groomer (below) running at $100/hr including volunteer time, plus maintenance, repairs, and original purchase, cost the club and the areas around lots of money to make a safe and family friendly snowmobiling community. Lets keep off with our ATV's please.
