I've had my 07 xrs on kijiji for 2weeks not even 1 person gave me a low ball offer. Even searching kijiji it seems like there is one 1/4 of the sleds moving as last year this time. I'm not in a rush to sell but does Anybody have any theorys?
Yea people are upgrading to cats :d
don't worry about it, I had my summit on kijiji for over 2 months before someone bought it.
My brother is looking for a sled EVERYONE is asking to much for the used stuff. Same as trucks I am looking for a 3/4 ton crew cab gas job and same there there either jacked up with lift kits or have all that chrome Sh!t on. look at Kijiji and there are over 5,586 trucks for sale on Edmonton area. Some adds have 1500 hits obviously some thing is going on TOO MUCH cash.
Lower your price and it might sell, the economy is not that great, just ask the govt. if it was hot none of the people would be b tching when it is hot you dont hear about any troubles. agaign lower price and it will sell. RantRant over and out.
If you don't mind me asking what was it and how close to asking did you get? I've started looking and it seems the prices are out to lunch... last year I bought the wife a 99 summit 670x 144" 2" paddles with reverse and 1600km for 3K....now this year a 99 summit 670x 136" without reverse asking $4100...WTF, if I were selling my two (I'm not) I'd peg the summit at about $2500 and my 97 A/C cougar 550 mountain cat at 18-ish.... but if I were to take kijiji prices they'd be 4000 and 3000 respective.....
I just don't get it, plio is looking for a cheap ditchbanger but anything that runs is 2000+
Now that's funny!!!
I can offer an outsiders opinion...I grew up on ditch bangers in SK. We never saw mountain sleds until we moved to Alberta, then I just thought all you guys were nutjobs LOL.
NOW...I have a buddy that has been taking me to the mtns to ride and I finally get it, and I am hooked...
Being new to the sport and totally consumed with getting a sled, and short on cash, I spend many hours researching and looking for deals. At this point I have zero brand loyalty since I havent owned anything for years, so I will look at any brand.
My take is simple...every sled I have seen listed in Canada is too high...I know most of you can justify the price based on what you either paid, or what you have added, but long and short, is it is still a USED sled vs a NEW sled. The US recession is far worse than ours, so when you add up the 2 factors, big recession, no money, and the fact that US dealers buy cheaper, the US sleds are darn near half of what we pay up here. Its very hard to justify paying around 9k for a year old used sled when I can run down to Idaho and pick up an 09 NEW for around 7500 beans. There are all kinds of arguements as to why importing sleds doesnt make sense, but when you look at the dollars its hard not to consider.
If you are looking USED vs USED there is no comparison...
Guys/gals, this is only MY opinion, but wanted to offer it as I see it!!
Have a look for yourself if you are questioning my facts. This site is known to all of us in our region (Medicine Hat) maybe because we are so close to the border...

That is bang on. You have to look at the market. What you paid for it is irrelevent......if the market dictates that that sled is worth $5000, then don't advertise $7000 and wonder why no one called. (I'm just using these numbers as examples....not saying what your sled is worth)
And like Longhorn said, there are parts of the world hurtin for cash and selling low....which brings the market down. So, either wait for better times or adjust the price to where the buying market is.
Sold my F7 last year, had it on Kijiji for 3 weeks with 2 calls. Put it in the auto trader and had it sold in a week for what I was asking. There's still a lot of folks out there who don't go online Kijiji does nothing for them the Auto Trader, Bargain Finder etc gets to those folks.
I go to the states and buy often, if you have never been there, here is the low down.
The bank does not give you par like the casinos in Vegas,
10% aprox. exchange
5% gst
+ time and money to get sled.
Here is what the true costs are for a $7500.00USD SLED
7500+ 15%=$8625.00
+riv=$204.50
=$8829.50
+ cost to go and get it = min. $500.00
=$9329.50
This is for a 7500.00USD sled, I have been there a done it!!!
Make sure you do your homework!!!!!!
