you forgot to mention how much is costs to have medical insurance in the US. I have colleagues in the US that pay as much as $1500 per month for a family of 4.

We pay as much or more for our medical care in the form of taxes. They pay way less in taxes overall but sometimes have to pay up front for medical care if they don't get it through their employer. Most employers have some type of medical insurance plan down there, they have to or they don't get quality employees.
All this hubbub about health care in the states is driven by the lefties and the people who expect free medical care (illegal immigrants, inner city minorities) without contributing to the system.

I would have to disagree, I think we are in the same boat as the US ....
really I don't see much difference. I would suggest they are free to do more down there way more than we are in Canada . Way more ...
But everyone's definition of freedom is quite different....
I have spent a great deal of time in Arizona , we could only dream up here of the freedom they have in that state...
Take a look at the socialist agenda happening in Alberta right now for example .
If the proposed plan for the castle area turns into law ..
I would not be aloud to see certain areas of my own province , simply because I am forced to walk ....
That's freedom ?

Well said!!!

You are perfectly allowed to see it, you just choose not to because you can't ride there on a motorized vehicle (don't take this as my advocation of the Castle closure I don't agree with it but I do agree with limiting motorized access to certain park areas) You can't ride in National Parks either but you certainly can access them.

Look at the amount of private owned land in the US vs Gov't owned that limits usage on a very large scale as private landowners control the access. Look at the US National Forests in the western States that hugely limit motorized access as well as economic development.

No that's not entirely accurate, some ares are simply to far to hike to with adequate supplies & let alone the risk involved on foot .
While I understand technically I ( and others ) are " allowed ", the point is will we ever ?
The discussion was about freedom , sorry but I view this as removing my freedoms & not adding to them ....

That is for gross aggregate taxes. what it doesn't tell you is how much tax they pay after deductions. The big one for the average Joe in the states is being able to deduct their mortgage interest from their taxes.
The mortgage system in the states is totally different so its hard to compare their mortgage interest to ours, but theirs is fully deductible from their income. Makes an enormous difference. Also when comparing the two countries tax-wise, look into what state they are taking data from as many do not have any state income tax.

So NBC news did a review of Trumps first 100 days on TV a few minutes ago. They like to play on what the rest of the world thinks of the US with Trump at the helm. People with green and purple hair concerned about him challenging North Korea to war? Excuse me! Is it not Kim Il Dong that is the one posting video's of American cities burning to the ground after he nukes them? Hasn't most of the posturing been from North Korea? They also don't like the fact he Tomahawked that Syrian airfield to a regime he was supporting only a couple days earlier? Am I missing something? Are the Americans not supporting the rebels instead of Assad? Has the mainstream media actually gotten that bad that the just make chit up as they go along? Trump is swimming for his life everytime he says one word. How do you work in that kind of environment?

When I seen the CNN part I didn't go any further ..lol
Americans pay far less tax and far less in terms of costs of living .
These are just facts ...
Anyways no one has free health care , doctors don't work for free any where in NA .
Our health care is a joke compared to US health care , people are dying because it takes years to get routine medical procedures done ...up
Here .
When I hear the argument" we have free healthcare in Canada "
I really question our fundamental understanding of how governments function ...lol
I don't want to take this of topic , but our health care system is a disaster waiting to happen , and the US one is not as bad as some I'll informed make it out to be ....

When you go into a US city hospital you better have insurance because they will use all the tools available to get to the bottom of your problem. MRI's are like getting an X ray up here. Rzrgade is right. Peeps are suffering and dying up here waiting in a lineup to get tests.

Obama took U.S from 6 Trillion to 20 Trillion in debt, one way or another it will cost them. That free health care in Canada is really costly.

I will gladly take our health care system than the US. I just had brain surgery 5 weeks ago. I waited for 2 months for it - not years and had the best care one could expect. The guy beside me was from Chicago as he could not get the procedure done in the states fast enough (brain tumour). Granted nothing is "free" even health care but talking with my cousin in Florida who is a head surgeon and administrator for a large hospital in Boca Ratan said that they constantly use the Canadian system as a way to improve their performance by comparison. He tells me we are "very lucky" to have what we have. This is not coming from a patient but coming from a management position.

I lived in Montana for a couple years and I am 100% certain my quality of life was better. Everything is cheaper, pay is better (in my line of work) and medical is WAY better. Everything is way less regulated, basically more fun everywhere.
Tore my ACL and next day I had an MRI... only way you get that here is private so you end up paying anyway.
Many companies cover medical you know...

Some stuff is better in Canada and some in the US. If you have cancer US is where you want to be, Heart work Canada is the best. Follow the pros.

Health Care costs are 40% of the AB budget, very large chunk of change.

I agree , but insulting one of the most powerful men in the world who has known ego problems AND has threatened to renegotiate our trade policies is ridiculous!
Don't think Trump has not payed attention to the arrogant little jabs , that JT throws his way , many prior to T being elected .
Guess what , we will all pay a steep price for his arrogance ...
I only need to hear JT brag about how his father got his brother off of criminal charges to make me hate this guy even more , if possible ...
Trump got elected wether we like it or not ! We should have had people in place to be prepared for this & and deal with it accordingly.

Our relationship with the US has been far superior with a conservative gov , apposed to the constant US bashing that the eastern liberals seem to somehow put forth .

Unlike JT , if trump says he's going to do something radical, you would be well advised to have a plan for that ... as there is a good chance , he will follow through.....

There are places of the Colorado River people aren't allowed in, many river systems require a permit to be on, Idaho it's self requires special permission for different parts of their river systems and if they sell X amount and you show up you aren't allowed to be there, is that anymore freedom? Some states have laws against foraging for food, no picking berries.... All freedom comes with some price. I would far rather wait in line for a broken arm that my health insurance is going to pay for while a kid with cancer gets treated without insurance. I have to spent plenty of time south of the boarder and there is definitely no place like home.
