We have installed a SPOT LOCATOR beacon in the Allan Creek cabin for emergency use(Sponsored by Whispercreek Log Homes). This is in a breakaway glass case and to be used in Emergencies ONLY Instructions are in the case

We hope this will be appreciated as a great safety tool and treated with the respect it deserves.

Take care, ride safe and use it if you need it !

yeah, we have to give the benefit of the doubt and its useless to anyone. we can cancell its activation number anytime. I still believe in the good of sledders and believe they will appreciate this and treat it accordingly

hey what do you think about putting some basic instructions beside it on the wall so peeople can read up?

x2....great idea.Varda is sure doing some good safety features like the beacon checker and now the SPOT.Makes a guy feel alittle better knowing that there is a way to send out help...
Is a 2 way radio at all in plans or can it be done?

Great idea sean, that is why we have already thought of it;) lol. There is a paper stapled to the wall beside it with full instructions as well as the instruction book is located inside the break box. There will also be some better signage for it within a week or two.

Just so everyone knows, SPAZ LOGGING has dontated one of these units and cases for the CLEMINA CABIN as well and it will be installed soon.

Great initiative and a big thanks to Shawn, Diane, Tyler and David Craig. Just another example of the wonderful people from Valemount welcoming sledders with open arms and putting their money where their mouth is. At a time when sledding seems to be coming less "politically correct" it is refreshing to see a community that embraces the sport. Spent last Tuesday night at a trails initiative meeting with Strathcona County and it is night and day. Strathcona County is a community that will not let sledders use some road allowances to create linkages between public lands even when the local snowmobile associations are willing to foot the bill. Go where you are welcome, go to Valemount.

Great idea. You may have started something by setting the bar for other proactive clubs. :thumbsup2:
