I was going thru some old pics today and found this tow-out from the mid 80's. Bucklake Bob came to the rescue once again. Coming up off the lake at Chappel,and his brother on the lead sled. Not much of a track on any of those sleds. Sorry for the quality,scanned photos.

Towing out a dead Dragon a couples weeks ago. We had just dropped into the saddle and driver broke.

How in the heck did you manage to do that?

It was in the first week of December and there was only 3 feet of snow in the Alpine, and I was the lucky one to find a 2'9" high rock

i wouldnt say thats right "right" way....you could tweak your tunnel in the ride down easily..

i would never do that

Thats too bad, you can't damage your tunnel if you tie in on properly ... thats why you have front suspension! It's also much easier on the towing sled and allows you to pull out of much harder situations than the other way. Been pulling like that for years never had a single issue.

But if you like next time your really stuck call a chopper! lol

im not doubting that it works excellent but ive seen a jerry can kill a tunnel in 2 rides..that weights 5 times at much.

it'll only kill the tunnel if you try this with an xp, i wouldn't put a jerry can on one either. all other brands are safe!! done it alot over the years, by far the easiest way to tow out.

Yes and you do not have to turn skis around as I've seen in the past. Sleds will pull through no problem backwards. As for a Jerry can I think you should carry one if you need it but unload it when your riding. Everyone is constantly trying to shed pounds then they strap 5-10 lbs. on the back??

Have to admit I've never pulled with my XP. When I do I'll post some pics but honestly ... hope that never happens lol! :d

Buddy had to tow me out of Chappel with his 146 XP when my RMK died, and it split and cracked his rear bumper.

well, thats back at the truck..... i blew it about 5-6km up the trail towards forester (radium), but it was groomed so it wasn't too bad.
the 'dynamic' climbing rope with a couple carabiners on the ends worked great for towing. just enough spring in the rope that it didn't jerk at all.

i got mine at mountain equipment co-op in calgary. it is a climbing rope, i forget the diameter i got, but it was one of their bigger ropes they carried. and the carabiners weren't cheap either, but they are big enough they'll just hook right onto the a-arms so it pulls evenly and doesn't break bumpers or skis. lmk and i'll take a close up picture of the rope and carabiners if you wanna do the same sort of thing.
