It's this weekend, and lets not forget about the goats! Come stand by our fire on Fri or Sat evening, and buy a t-shirt to support our donation to the Clemina cabin.

Hope to see a lot of folks this weekend as its usually our last hurrah before the snow shows in the fall.

See you on the mountain tomorrow and by the fire at night time!

Remember to ride safe. This tricky spring snowpack should make you think about reducing your exposure and risks over the weekend.

Hey Varda, does it look like we will be able to ride next weekend the 25th ?

I heard rumors that McBride is closing the gates that weekend.

there are no areas that close in the valemount region in the spring from anything other than no access(gravel). allan creek is really the only tough one but clemina is no problem right into june. the only gate that ever gets closed is at allan creek in november on the main trail to help the trail set up for grooming.

"varda" is out riding right now so we should have a report back this evening.

Extremely spring like out there with this rain and warm temperatures. The staging areas are dry and the trails are beginning to patch up a bit. Clemina Creek is no longer able to be groomed and the last trip up the Allen Creek trail for the groomer will be the night of Saturday April 19[SUP]th[/SUP]. We apologize for having to end grooming in the Clemina Creek area earlier than planned although recent rain has wreaked havoc on the lower access.

Still managed to get in some decent turns on the Dixon with the little breaks in weather. All in all a decent day, but the snow is definitely on the wetnheavy side

Well, another grooming season has come and gone..

VARDA would like to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who chose to Ride Valemount this season. Your support for the three communities in this valley is crucial and we really do appreciate your visits!

I will continue to provide updates on access and alpine conditions whenever possible. I am trying to free up time tomorrow to go out and inspect the Allen and Clemina trail systems to better inform everyone for the weekend. Please feel free to message, email or phone us with any of your questions.

Enjoy the rest of spring and please ride safe.

PS.....it snowed in the valley bottom last night:eek:

FYI.... Observation update from SRL from ground zero.
It rained all day yesterday and turned to light snow overnight . You can see from picture that it dropped a good dusting starting at about 4500 feet up the mountain. . Blue Skies today and plus 12. I'd say spring riding at it's finest , bows the time to explore and find some of them secret spots for next year.
TPOWER over and out.

This info can change drastically day by day.An inspection was done on all three major areas the morning of April 24[SUP]th[/SUP]
The information below is simply the opinion of VARDA staff.
Others views on conditions may differ greatly.

Clemina : Currently vehicle access via the FSR is not possible due to a lengthy patch of snow just off the highway. It is still recommended to use this FSR for riding area access and use the highway pullout for staging. Riders WILL be riding bare patches until the 4km marker.

Allen Creek: There is cover from just past the back staging area although you must travel up the short hill on bare dirt/rock to access the snowline. From there the trail has generally full cover with the odd bare and muddy patch.

Keyhole: Access must now be done through the FSR only as there is no longer access from the Clemina staging area.

Chappell Creek: This trail has melted drastically and is mostly bare for the first 2.5km although there are snowy sections to maintain lubrication between bare patches. Once at the top of the switchbacks, the trail should be in good cond.

How was it last weekend? Thinking of going May 2nd and 3rd. Would it be worth the trip, or is it time to shut her down?

Some excellent spring riding over the last two days. Dont put your sleds away yet!

Its likely that Clemina will be the easiest access from now on as the trails are quickly melting. We are staging at the 4km bridge now, although there is next to no room to turn a big unit around. Decks and small trailers from now on!

Great spring ripping today! Hope to see some of you out on the snow. Ride safe
