Race Fuel Ban

Word on the street is that leaded race fuel is now banned since the extension is over. Anybody else heard this?? Haven't had to buy some since b4 Xmas but apparently this took effect Jan 1.

If you are not running leaded race fuel, anyone have any alternatives for 14:1?

I still buy 100 LL fuel at the airport and it has lead! that was at 1200 today!

what a joke....I was part of a group that drafted a letter along with stats to show how utterly stupid this is....this was sent to Brian Jean which is our member of parliment and the Prime Ministers office. The amount of emmisions that is expelled from race vehicles is below a percentage point compared to that of aircarft and how many planes are in the air at any given time? you would think that they would have better things to waste their time on....

If leaded race fuel is banned how are they going to enforce this? Are they going to take a sample of everyone's fuel on the hill? They can ban it from being sold which will be a pain but there are is always a way around rules and restrictions, especially ones that are pointless. Anyone heard anymore on this?

My son just ordered some C14. They didn't say it wasn't available any more.


Edit: Just got this off VP's site. Looks like the final ruling has yet to be made.

"VP Racing Fuels wants to assure racers in Canada that it has race proven unleaded formulas immediately available from the Atlantic Maritimes to British Columbia. VP’s assurance was prompted by a delay in the final ruling by the Canadian government on whether or not to indefinitely extend an exemption that allows leaded racing fuels to be used in competition vehicles. The final ruling is not expected until the 2010 racing season is well underway, placing track operators and competitors at significant risk if they allow and/or use leaded fuels."

it isnt illegal there just going to stop using lead to make the higher octane fuel. ken said it will still be avalabile while supplies last and from there i dont know

i understand that it will be back on the marcket in june under a new permit . this came from the VP rep in calgary

Currently the canadian government has stopped all inporting of leaded race fuel into canada ... the perminant exemption has gone through , but due to the Olympics it got pushed to the back burner ( we think ) and is currently in a 60 day comment period and after that it will become law and be able to be imported . the current day for importing should be befor the middle of June 2010

We have been running and buying race fuel all summer. Had to look around a bit for the May long weekend races but since then no problems.
