I think I’m ok but just wanted to confirm. I have a unmaintained FSR road behind my cabin and want to no if we can ride on it. May be a good spot I see no tracks on it and just wanted to do some exploring. I have bees up there in the summer on a bike. What are the rules. Thx

no rules for a unplowed FSR.

Be careful with that. Here's the actual wording of the regulation. Gotta read all of it.

A person must not operate a snowmobile on a forest service road if it appears that the road has been snowplowed, or that the road is otherwise fit for travel by motor vehicles other than snowmobiles.

Yup plate and insurance.

Plate falls under the ORV Act and is required on all crown land, not just FSR's. https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/lc/statreg/193_2015

Snowmobiles don't actually require insurance in BC. Section 3(1) https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/70_2004#section3

Despite the requirements of sections 2 (c) and 12, a person is not required to hold a subsisting driver's licence issued under the Motor Vehicle Act or a valid and subsisting contract of third party liability insurance while operating a snowmobile on a forest service road in compliance with subsection (3).

You can still drive a snowmobile. No license required. ATV on the other hand requires a drivers license on a FSR. Non-FSR roads are OK though. Trick is figuring out which is which.

Should have bought a cabin near Fernie. You wouldn't need to ask questions like this, you could just follow everyone else... plowed or not:sled1:
