We did our deck with Trex about 7 years ago ,we used stainless 3\4"''screws fastened from the bottom on 10gauge z-girts. the deck still looks like new and is very tight still, we load about 2 cords of wood on it at a time all winter long .

I just finished two decks using Moisture Shield that I purchased at The Deck Store in Edmonton. I am very happy with the product so far and the Deck Store was pretty good to deal with. My uncle used the same material when he built his deck 6 years ago and it has held up very well. I will try to get some pics up in the next few days for you Curtis. I also used Pro-Built aluminium railing that was good to work with. Not a cheap build but I am really happy that I will never have to paint it. I also reccomend buying the stainless screws with the small diameter head for the fascia... way less 'pimpling'.

I used trex, I wanted to do the under screw system z track or whatever it's called but my deck was to tight to the ground. Soi used the trex trim head screws from the top and sunk them in a 1/8" then my wife followed along behind with a ball pinne hammer and flush hammered the holes. U don't see the stews at all. I'll take some pics for ya when I get a chance

The first pic is my deck boxes around the hot tub. They are counter sunk so I can remove boxes to service hot tub. The second is the original trex can't even see the screws at all. The last is deck put down 2years ago. U can still see the holes but are closing up slowly. If u ball peen them on a super hot day it's way easier. Plus take notice of the outside temp when u put it down. 1/2 deck on a cold day 1/2 deck on super hot day u will notice a spread. Trex expands alot. It all does really

We are leaving it unfinished for the first winter then we will hit it with a stain in the spring... I'm told with a fresh coat of stain every 3-4 years it's good for 30+ years ...even unfinished I'm told it will last 25-ish.. the cedar I used was kiln dried waxed end tight knot... and I got a smokin deal at $0.69 Ln/ft

5 weeks of my life I will never get back but I'm happy with the end result...

If you want cedar talk to Larry at Home hardware on 149st & 112ave in edmonton, A little bit of a drive for you but the closest price to his I could find was $1.19 L/ft for a lesser product I used 3500 L/ft... my $3200 included the 2x10 sub structure & stringer material, 2x8 joists and 4x4 posts.

He beat my price from Northland construction supply on our corporate account....
