The trail up is horrid, tons of ice for the first 2 switcbacks. Once up top tracks are everywhere back to hillclimb. I made it past the super bowl , still gotta watch for trees and landmines. Had about 3-4 feet of powder with absolutely no base.

When were you up there M1000CAT? Is this update from yesterday? Last weekend?

Thanks

Hey anybody that has rode Allan crrek this year have any updates on the lakes there. Heard a few guys have went through with their machines? We are heading up on Dec 5 and we were wondering if anybody has any info about the lakes/creeks etc. We have alot of first timers and just curious what we should be staying away from?

Valemount has been unusually cold for the last 9 days. Weathernetwork showed -33 degrees one morning a day or two back. What with the unusually cold temperatures coupled with the lack of snow cover over the water bodies methinks you do not have to worry about the lakes/creeks anymore.

sorry guys, not what you want to hear, but the snowfall last night ended early and did not amount to squat. Its still looking snowy around here, but there is no improvement in conditions.

Do you think the lakes behind the cabin will be frozen enough to play on?

Hey All

Its been storming and blowing throughout the night unfortunately, its blowing so hard that I cannot state an amount of accumulated snowfall. The roads are drifted in everywhere and some peoples lawns are even stripped down to grass from the exessive wind.

The good thing about it is that means the alpine is getting hit with some great snow. Access will still be early season quality........

Just so everyone knows, there are two sets of switchbacks on the old trail and im not sure why everyone takes the first set. If you reach the bottom of the first switch and instead of going up, keep straight through the bit of willows you will be on another set of mellow switches with no problems........trust me, i would almost be there is not a track on it and you will avoid all the ice

So after thursdays storm, I decided to give it a try today. Allan, Clemina, and Chappell parking areas all have approx a foot of snow in each, so the access is getting much better, although snow levels are still really down and there are landmines everywhere.

Many riders in the clemina lot today so hopefully we wil get report from there

Allan had about 10 trucks in the lot and some friends are riding there tomorrow so they will update us on the trail

We went to Chappell with many others...lol and had an amazing day. Most areas there is still only a meter of snow, but some spots were up to a meter and a half of overall snowfall. The recent storm had brought about 60cm of great fresh snow up there. Many many rocks and creeks still open by the lake, but the front meadows are awesome ! The trail in had full snow coverage the whole way and is in good shape.

On a negative note: Once again the 5% sledders have attacked.

On approximately friday, a group broke the center welds on the gate that is preserving the snow on the new trail to allow earlier grooming. This was a dam steel gate ! So, we had plans to potentially begin grooming this coming weekend and now are set back at least another week as this trail is also now ICEY and this will effect grooming for a very long time.

Way to go guys, thanks for wrecking it for the rest of us. Makes me really love my job working for sledders

If you cant ride an early season trail Stay the Hell Home

Next year I will do my darndest to have your ugyly mugs on Candid Camera
