Has anyone heard what the actual weight of the new Nytro is going to be. on yammies website they go on and on about weight reduction but they do not give any actual wieghts. It would be nice to know.

i herd like 30lbs lighter then last year.. so like 510lbs dry im not 100% sure. find Climbmax and pm him or ask him he will know

In total, the FX Nytro MTX 163 is 17 pounds lighter than the 2009 FX Nytro MTX, and the 153-inch version is 21 pounds lighter. Yamaha said its 163-incher out-climbed the 2009 153 by eight to 12 sled lengths, and it out-climbed the Apex MTX, too

21 pounds just isn't enough!!! More More More!!! When it gets under 500lbs I will take one!!! But Yamaha is headed in the right direction the changes this year are good but Yamaha needs to focus some effort towards the mountain guys. Its great that you can turbo it and it will climb but what about getting there. Maybe its just me that needs the diet I am too tired when I get to the good climbs on a 600lb sled!

hi every one im new here but not new to snow mobiling. im also new to computers bear with me. i also like the new yamaha nytro mtx se it sure is a nice looking sled as far as the weight goes a few pounds here & there makes no diff. unless you are an extreme hillclimber whitch only about 10% of the riders are. if anyone knows how thay work i would like to here what you think tks merv.

Welcome, Merv. I agree with you totally but like you said which I'm one of them the other 90% are getting stuck! Lifting out a 650 lbs sled is no fun, but I love getting stuck!

Yamaha is headed in the right direction but the machines are being marketed to people with the desired and cash to put turbos on them.

I agree, a little weight really don't make alot of difference, especially when a guy is packing a case of beer and a whole lotta jerky and pepperoni in the back bag. The sled from what I've seen really works well, Kelly from yamaha here in Whitecourt put a 162 2.5 inch paddle and lightened his 09 up a bit. Other than that it was pretty much a stock sled and he said it really made a difference over the 153, almost rode like the 2010 162 model. My biggest peeve on the Nytro is the fact the price tag is $16,000+ for a 138 HP sled. They drop that price or keep the price and add 20 ponies or so and maybe id buy one. Hell it's a recession, gotta get the best bang for the dollar. My two cents:d

you are probably right on the bang for the buck they are hard to come by these days merv

Buy a 09 for 10500 brand new and put 1000 into a track, 350 rail, and 200wheels and you have a 162 Nytro for 13200 taxes in.

Still 138 Hp though, just not enough stock ponies. New M8 160+ Hp and its right around the 13,000 mark for a sno pro and at least 50lbs lighter. Also new summit 154 hp and right around the 13,000 mark as well, and thats for 2010's. Don't get me wrong, I luv the yammies, but the only way to get some ponies is to turbo and alot of people really don't want 200+ hp or have $8000 to do so.:d

actually Most yamy dealers can sell the 09 for that..or less:d:d:d:d as far as the hp goes..the torque is the thing that makes it work...look up "rapid bike" from powder lites,, 24ish hp plug and play,, works with all forms of add on mods.. ad the new track and a little bling and you can get the same looking sled with more HP for less money.....

i went from a m1000 with 195 ish hp to a (used to be) stock apex mtn and the apex is easier to predict, better on fuel, easier to get unstuck.,, and has a larger range of available bolt ons...

But weight 4 stroke haters dont jump on my back, i rode the 2010 m8-162 hp and it rocks no questions... just observations for your info......

the nytro is a handfull when stuck...... nevermind the apex

you can get a 09 nytro for about 10g's which is pretty good

4k and easy install (think at home with basic tools) ..........just under a couple hundy hp with stock compression....great throttle reponse as well.
could be perfect for the guys/gals who don't need/want the 240++ programs.
Check out the forums and sites this fall for more details.;)

yup some 2 strokes can be had for less money.......but I can guarantee the turn key fun factor is there with the 4 stroke. :p

Well last year in Revy, I went with two guys on mostly stock 09 Nytros (one with a 162), one 800 dragon, 2 08 800 summits, I borrowed an 08 M800 stock and another guy had the same M800 but with a pipe and riding with those nytros was the most work I have ever had on the hill. Every time we got into some fresh snow and steep climbs, those nytros were stuck and they were not easy to get out, they just didn't have the jam. They took 2-4 passes on every hill the Summits and Cats climed over first try, (and both guys on them have been riding 20+ years). Definitely didn't impress me at all. Steered me from yami to cat just like that.:d

thats the total beauty of sledding, you get to pic:d, i wasnt much of a 4 stroker guy but im convinced,, takes a good day of riding, and i suppose if ur balls deep in powder on a new sled it might be tough going as they do handle diff. course b deep there all heavy...i keep talking about a fitness program,,but its easier to bolt on hp.....lol but let me know if u want a cat...i know some one.......
