Maybe we can go to a decal shop and make our own and keep the real thing under the seat. I gonna make my decal 1"x3". :d
I could care less about the plate being on the tunnel. Just getting totally difference answers about the FSR. Are the trails that go from the parking lot to the alpine crown land or FSR? I don't know, so Im asking. If I need a permit, so be it. It would be nice if get a straight answer from the RCMP, ICBC, gov't, etc is all.

Yup. Clarification would be awesome!
You can ride on this road, but if you cross this road you need additional insurance.
Unload and ride from parking lot, decal required.
This area requires mounted plate, but if you cross the road, plate in back pack okay.
if you can out run the Cats no decal or plate required.
Maybe a boat registration decal is good 2H******.
Time for another beer !

Id say....I pay $500 a sled in Ontario for insurance....plus registration, drive across 4 provinces with the same plates on my truck.....then when I get there I have to apply for a non resident permit to operate the sled. Really? I like the "catch me if you can" plan. Just outta principle.

You don't need a non-resident permit. Your Ontario registration is perfectly acceptable in BC. Still need trail pass for club managed areas just like the rest of us though.

A sticker about 6 inches long to stick on the left side of the top of the tunnel beside the cooler wouldnt be a dreadful thing that we could all live with. Just like the ones that we put on our plates (all reflective and purdy for the government ) Then stick your renewal sticker on that. Thats the one spot that doesnt get beat up..... covered up maybe with a gas can but thats easily removed for inspection. Cause you know when this goes into full force they will be at the parking lots looking for you rebels lol. This might even slow down the thefts and b&e problems .... we can only hope. I agree its a gong show

Gonna try this, couldn't get it sent to Tyler. This is the latest I have on the new procedures for sleds and ATV's, gal at the insurance place said decals for sleds are on their way, don't shoot the messanger! And if these have already been posted somewhere and I missed them ,then shoot me.......... Sherm

I have not registered my sleds yet. I personally think (and this is only my opinion) that there is so much confusion out there (between ICBC, the vendors, the RCMP, and the CO's) that this will be postponed for awhile yet.
Enforcement will be difficult as both the RCMP and CO's have more important duties to preform. Out of province people will be fine with their registration and insurance. They will be in a better position than BC residents because the enforcers will be a little more lenient until the process gets ironed out.
The comment made about insurance on a FSR, in my opinion, is redundant. It is illegal to ride a snowmobile on a plowed FSR whether you have insurance or not. Insurance is not required on an unplowed FSR. I don't know why bureaucrats can't get these thing right the first time. Snowmobile registration hasn't worked since it was first implemented back in the beginning.

People, this is not a difficult issue.
For individuals from outside B.C. (and I am speaking to those of us from Alberta), you need a vehicle registration plate - and it has to be mounted on the snowmobile, so mount it (don't whine about the manufacturers not providing "a spot/location" to mount one - many have a place on the flap, however poor that is). We all know that you need insurance to register your snowmobile in Alberta, so get some, however inexpensively you can find it.
I would not rely on "the past" enforcement of RCMP in B.C. - something tells me with this new law coming into effect, they will be read the riot act by the B.C. gov't, and will be happy to take your fine money from you. It is not like we have had enough warning of this change in B.C.
The only item I am not sure of yet is where we obtain this "non-resident permit". By Nov. 1, I hope the B.C. gov't has their act together and available "easily" by the tourists bring money to B.C.!

I must correct myself. The law states "may issue" a non-resident permit, so if the gov't of B.C. chooses not to produce and charge for a non-resident permit, us from outside of B.C. will only need a displayed license plate, which we need insurance to obtain.

Last year I had my sled registered and insured in BC, although I mostly live in Alberta, but the insurance company told me they wouldn't cover it against theft while in storage back in Alberta, so I moved everything to Alberta for this year. if I have to pay another $80 to get coverage in BC for being able to 'legally' cross a road or drive thru the parking lot to the trail, I'll just do it and skip the bar for a couple of nights.

I believe when you are insured in Alberta, you do not require further ICBC insurance.

I belong to a BCSF club and take advantage of liability coverage through the club and use that as proof of insurance to buy my Alberta registrations for them. I add on fire, theft from BC insurance agent. According to them the sleds need to stay in BC more than 50 percent of the time which they do.

Hmmm, what insurance company? Guy I talked to (Capri Insurance) said they had to stay in BC over the summer to be covered.

Hope that is true, but I will check when I am back in the winter, thought this specifically related to being allowed to cross public roads. You would think that someone would have actually written this out, and informed the Clubs and insurance brokers before they implemented it.
