Not too make light of the terrible devastation and suffering the locals must be going through but has the water been high enough to cause problems for Joe Schmuck's, Best Western, Timmies, Moose Mulligans', Super8, and or the Dutchman's Dairy. Sorry but I always seem to be drawn to food and sleep in Sicamous after a day of riding.

Apparently Timmies is OK as that's why all the trucks are parked.

Looks like alot of cleanup to do and alot of insurance claims for alot of people Corrisa.

no insurance on the buildings for flooding. vehicles would go under thier own policy. huge financial loss for many.
when this happen around Chetwynd last June, the only relief was from the province pitching in with kitchen, bathroom & bedroom repairs.

That's kinda fawked, why pay insurance if they don't cover these 'acts of god'. Hell, acts of god are why I would want insurance in the first place.

This happened 13yrs ago to us at 6mile but 100x worse! Insurance covered the contents the rest was a fight! This is going to be a mess to say the least!
No water at timmies as of yesterday the water in Sicamous was inland 3blocks.

Here are photos from my mom this morning at 2 mile waterways you will see the bridge got full of rocks forcing the creek to cut a new path that took out homes as well as the road up to the dump in turn causing all the water to head to waterways

Corissa..... Do you know the davies in swansea point? They had the cabin burn down last winter...... Do you know if they had damage to their new place they're building or built??

Yes I do know them the report from my dad that is on the fire department said that no it is not damaged but a lot of homes as far as there did get water in the yard and sand but nothing major. I will be calling them today to find out for sure.

As far as I know there was water on the property, but we don't really have a lot to damage there. We haven't began rebuilding yet so its not a huge deal if our concrete gets a little wet.

i just spoke with my dad they(firemen) have been told that you can not drink any of the water and that though the hwy has been filled in at swansea point the police and flag people are set up at the entrance. what these means is no one can come into the area unless they live there you need to provide ID and some sort of info like a tax bill showing that you do pay to live there, this is being done for safty as the road down into swansea point is not fully repaird. they also want to limit the chance of looting in the area aw well.

so if you own land and plan on going there you must bring ID if you are unsure they are being told to call the police and find out what is needed as they will not let you in.

there is also a speed limit on the lake due to all the logs and other items in the lake but also to protect the sand bagging efforts, sand bagging is only to keep slow rising water out not waves.

there is also the problem of garbage as the garbage dump is up the mt. at 2 mile where the road up has been washed out! so there is no place for garbage they are working on a solution to this problem.

i hope this help anyone that has a place there or if you were planning to go like myslef we wont be allowed in at this time. as i find out info i will post it
