So on Tuesday dec 21 last week my right arm went completely numb then by Thursday my entire right side was numb so went in to emergency at UOfA. Sat there for 6 hrs and finally let me. I can’t believe the absolute abuse our emergency departments go through. People go in for regular crap that should be done at a medi center, I sat close so could hear all the people discussing there issues. Just a total waste of good resources where some people need those services and are put in waiting because of this BS. Not much COVID in there either. So got in and another 2 hrs had a cat scan. Had some IV and some Iv medication for these wicked hiccups that I still have now for over a week and a half. After 8 addional hours a neurosurgeon came down to check me out. Checked motor skills and thery were ok. Asked a pile of questions then a few more came to talk. I did ask for water several times as I was dying of thirst. Nope can’t drink as I may need surgery. About another 3 hrs went by and a the one came back to talk again they were going to get me into an mri. Then he left about 3 hrs later a person came in to collect more blood and then take my IV out. I asked her for some water. Which I got 2 Dixie cups of warm water. Well that went down fast. I had some bleeding in the brain to a open small cavern. That 5% of people have the odd one in there heads. It filled up with blood but is putting pressure on other areas causing signal loss so hence the numbness to my right side. Nothing helps the hiccups though. Though to get sleep and talk. Had a mri on Thursday and that was not fun. After the second try they had to tape my head down and tighten the clamps against my ears where I can hear cracking. Hopefully that was the ear muffs lol. Hiccups and mri’s don’t go well together. So now crickets…….. Phoned neosurgeon office many times. They finally got back to me. I have an appointment Tuesday morning with dr.chow. If anyone knows of him let me know. We are looking at options as well as my parents deal with doctors at Cedar Cynide in LA. I’ll wait to see what they say and send my mri to doctors there. Just not sure if I can fly right now and we would have to fly lower altitude most likely. I’m lucky to have parents that offer me this additional options if required. All I can say is the medical system here is very poor right now and at Xmas everything seems to be on hold.
Well, let’s hope this is temporary. I hope it warms up a bit. I’m starting my sled and going for a rip. I really didn’t miss any desired sledding. Still working here and there as I’m down staff and with this weather lots of pipes breaking or fires. Cheers
