Well I am sending good thoughts to everyone in the flood area. I hope all the people, pets and farm animals were able to get out in time. I heard through the grape vine that they are moving cattle to higher ground in the Kootenays today too. The river in High River has risen around 5 feet almost over night too. Stay dry everyone.

Well I hope no loss of life during these floods, BUT these areas that are developed with out regard for these potential events shock me. White pines for example 100+ condos that are built 2 feet lower than the 100 year flood level. Guess what eventually this type of weather event happens. And waterways built right next too a mountain drainage river, which actually had a major flood only 15 years ago.

yes i agree and the ever present logging that happens even now above this area does not help. where the creek breached the bank on our land is the same place it happened and path it took in 1997(the first flood) undermining right down to the original ground surface in 1997. it ended up unearthing many items that got buried in the first flood that were from my grandparent's home and washed them down the road to the lake. but to your point the path the creek took again is part of the original creek bed before the area was developed according to the land plot info we have.

my family is safe they are staying farther up the mt. above there property to watch for flooding an looters. she said it has started to rain and the area is on full evacuation unless you are on higher ground. as well she said it looks like they have filled in the hwy97a over hummingbird creek which means they can leave and get to enderby/salmon arm area. it is for local trafic only if they leave they can not come back because of the rian and flood watch for the night.

she said as well that Garry/ok13 his family is safe and his parents home has some flooding in the celler/crawl space some how the flooding went the opposite way from them, he text and said he was with is dad but i have no more info from him yet.

2 mile/waterways hwy97a is not open. as well hwy 1 will be closed till Thursday they are saying because of the slide that happened last night at 3 valley gap and because it is still raining there.

re: BC Floods & Restorations (formerly, Prayers needed)

this info was posted on line tonight.

Environment Canada advises that the Shuswap area will experience rain showers over the next 24 hours with thunderstorms expected in the afternoon. There is a slight risk that the thunderstorms will be severe with the possibility of heavy rainfall of up to 10 - 20 mm and wind gusts of 50 - 60 km/hr or more.
The River Forecast Centre released an updated lake level report at 10:30 am June 24 recording Shuswap Lake at 349.25 metres. With the recent and anticipated rainfall, the lake is expected to rise 25 - 30 cm over the next few days.

here are the photos from my mom and the damage to hwy97a, the road down to the boat launch at swansea point.

on the green quad is Garry/ok13 and my dad working to gether to help a commuity in need! this is on the raod down to the lake where is parents home is. helping as they go. my fire man dad was on the red quad.

my dad said tonight he is still in shock, he slept on the floor at the fire station all night taking shifts to watch the creek, he could hardly get his thought out as he is still in shock!
