Help!
Washed my new MF bibs and now I get a wet ass!
Washed in warm, used regular laundry detergent, rinsed twice and dried on low. Just like always.
This time something happened.

if you can't get warranty from them, look for a couple products from Nikwax - - - Techwash and TX Direct

I did this on an old set of pants....worked great.

Actually says on the NikWax bottle..."conventional detergent can damage water-repellency"

These are brand new replacements.
My old bibs went for years and finally started coming apart. Got my money's worth on those for sure.
I think I'll re wash them and dry them on a higher setting.....
Already sent warranty an email.

with anything goretex you should always use a tech wash. regular detergent fills the pores and makes a passage to let water through. nik wax or toko are you two best options. it really sucks more shops dont let people know of this.

lol...yup, go ahead wash more of the waterproofing out of your clothes....

Like I stated earlier...if you can't get warranty....then you need to reapply the waterproofing.

If you do take the waterproofing route, you should 1st wash it with a proper product to clean it properly...I don't think laundry soap is that product, then wash again with a waterproofing product. I recommended NikWax brand only because I tried it. I actually called their help desk before I bought the product and he said was very helpful in explaining. Their website gives a lot of info on the "why" waterproof garments eventually fail.....

you stated yourself...they worked great before I washed them.....so do you think washing them your way again is really the right answer?? How will that "add" waterproofing?

I just washed my bibs for the first time so I read the instructions. Said to machine wash on gentle and tumble dry on low, once dry place in dryer for an additional 20 mins to reactivate waterproofing.

I don't think you're supposed to use anything with a fabric softener either...ie: no Tide Pods...

That's where I may have went wrong.
I used one of those little pod things....
This time I used straight laundry soap and ran an extra cycle in the dryer.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.
Nikwax wash kit will be my next option.

I just used this afternoon. Bibs aren't leaking yet and I want to see if it prolongs the dryness in the butt area. Should be able to get it at a ski shop in Fernie.

You know I googled the care instructions and nothing regarding Nikwax came up.
I did mess up by using that laundry pod thing.
I'm just not that domesticated.

If your butt is getting wet your sitting to much... get off the seat and on the gas.

Haha. Agreed.
We usually sit around in the snow laughing at each other's stucks..
Should probably stop doing that.

On the instructions on my can, they say to use that on breathable clothing. Quote : "to waterproof breathable clothing use TX.Direct"

Looks like they have two kinds of stuff.
One for soft shell and hard shell stuff. Our shells would be considered hard shell if I'm not mistaken.

You know, you can get a license for running those domestic machines. I have one for vacuuming and running the dishwasher. The others, I haven't passed yet!
