The Urine test

THIS GUY MAKES A GOOD POINT
This was written by a construction worker in Fort MacMurray- he sure makes a lot of sense.

I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay cheque, I work on a rig site for a Fort Mac construction project. I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand that I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass drinking beer and smoking dope.

Could you imagine how much money the provinces would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance cheque? Please pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.

Hope you will pass it along though, because something has to change in this country, and soon!!!

that would be a great policy, very well put, people who need help and have encountered a bad situation deserve the help, but the losers who work the sytem should have to work in jails with the rest of their loser friends,... worst thing is some are proud of it

Its nobodies business what you do in your free time as long as you dont harm others. The company get you for 8 hours a day. All you guys would rather trade safety for freedom. The movie "reefer madness" is not real.

It is a good idea, but would be very hard to regulate. We have enough problems with stopping people on probation & parole from cheating the "Urinalysis test".
The tests are also very time consuming, and essentially would cost alot of money to do it for such a large section of the population.

Good idea otherwise. If they could find a large scale company to preform this large amount of tests, we might have something worth while!

I'm not trading freedom for safety, if some a$$ is stoned and endangers me at the jobs site and i get hurt or killed because of his condition and in turn can't provide an income for my family you bet he is harming others. I sure don't want a stoned or drunk on the site if they need that stuff they can sit at home and do it to their hearts content....if he/she brings it to work ( like a lot of guys do) he/she should be sitting without a job....no worky worky for them...well maybe that would be a good thing and no one would get hurt, its bad enough that there are alot of meatheads out there already without putting even worst judgement into the mix.:twocents::twocents:

wtf? Hey Scuba whens the last time you only worked 8 hours??? I could only wish for a little shift like that...
we are refering to the losers who mouch our tax dollars and work the sytem, now if you are in a bad situation and need the help I would be happy to pee in a can so I could feed my children and keep the heat on.

I agree with the theory on this but as was posted above who would pay for all these tests? I'm not sure what it costs to do a urinalysis but I am sure it's not free. I have to test pre access for work around Fort Sask as well and only wish that it wasn't so easy to cheat. If they had a test for canaboids that was more accurate (timeframe of consumption) I would feel better about it. It is a shame that coke or meth clears your system so much quicker than maryJ. Can't go to a concert 10 days ago and be around pot but you could get all railed out on a thursday night and pass a urine test on Monday...

Never had to do the pee test but totally agree with the frustration that we all feel with having our incomes taxed and given out to help out just to see it get used for stupid things. I am sure that some of them are doing the drugs like you suggest but did you guys know that the busiest day at the casinos is welfare cheque day. No kidding, I have serviced machines in the casinos many times and have heard the story over and over from the staff. Its like a stampede in there the day the cheques come in. Makes me sick, if only we could take that money and redirect it to the the people in real need.
