have you ridden an '08 or '09? if so, did you notice a big difference in powder handling from your '10 with the different skid geometry?

ya i have. i just noticed the steering much easier on the 10. the other 2008 sleds ive spent time on had widened front ends so i cant really speak for powder handling as they were a btch.

I'm wondering if the changes are mostly meant to make it easier to lay over in marginal fresh snow conditions.

I think you see the big advantage in the snow that is less than a foot of powder. When I bought my 09 I got the disconect with the theory of have it for the trail up and down. The second day out I got to the top and unhooked it, i would sell it too you if I knew where it was. I like the way it handles on the trail without it. I ride it in Saskatchewan without it and never had trouble. Wish I wouldn't have wasted the 70 bucks.

Yes i will get some pics and put them on. Sled is at a buddies house right now. Kid has one more motocross race this weekend and then time to get the sleds ready. All you need is a couple of M6 bolts about 2" long and 4 nuts. Cut the heads off them. Drill a small hole 1/8" near the end that you cut the head off. Pull one of your sway bar connectors off. Now thred a nut on the bolt all the way. Stick it through the hole where the sway bar was with the hole you drilled closest to you and put the other nut on and tighten it up. Do this top and bottom and you will basically have 2 pins sticking out towards you. You can just slip the connector back on and I used a couple of little body clips from a nitro car to go through the holes you drilled. Easy takes seconds to take off and put on.

Haha clear as mud I bet.

I ride an 08, and have mine ripped out. I didn't notice much difference on the trail, and lots of difference in the pow. So far, mine has stayed downstairs, and I think that's where it will stay.

I have an 08 that I've removed the swaybar but to tell you the truth I didn't really notice a difference between having it in and out.

jeebus....I must be the only guy that can ride an XP with the swaybar in and functioning. just too mushy without it IMO.....I bought a stainless steel disconnect with an external spring and used it twice, never found it any different in the pow and a 100X worse on the trail going in or out.

A big x2 I tried without, found it too soft replaced and I like the way the sled handles with them in.

Both mine and dads sway bars are out, I did notice it easier to side hill etc. and I like how it handles on the trails, more responsive, less of a solid ride.

I find the only time it is advantageous to have them out is on frozen crusty snow and i'm turning back up on a steep slope just for the initial lean before I pin it.

On my 08 summit x and I took off the sway bar and it's really twitchy on the trips up to the powder. Aside from that I did see a improvement with it off in the deep powder.
