I’m looking at a great deal on a sled. It has 153”track and 3” lugs.

We are trail riders, mostly soft packed

Can I shave the lugs down a 1/2”?? Will that do any damage?

I’m all over the place with my potential purchase. Bought the mrs a perfect trail sled but having a hard time finding the one I need. Thanks!

Btw, the owner now says all he does is flat land trails and ice fishing. Only 1500 miles on it

Can be done. Will make the track stiffer and probably trench more. But on hard packed or kinda hard packed it should hook up better

Only issues I’ve found is as soon as you trim off the tips, as that’s the soft part of the paddles, the sled can be extremely useless in icy conditions.

can you shave them... Yes
Will it do damage to the track.... No

The paddle will be more stiff, GREAT for trails or groomed trails, packed powder, spring riding conditions.... basically more firm snow type conditions.

If it was me, i would take the 3" off and sell it and buy yourself the track your looking for. speaking from doing this one time, shaving a track down sucks and i wont do it again.

Im guessing that 3" track is 3.0 pitch, i would look for a a take off 2.6" or look for someone that wants to trade. Might not cost u anything but a case of beer and one evening.
