Anyone know if they are still planning to shut down the trans Canada with the radium detour? If so do we know when this is gonna start? Was gonna set up in revy for the winter but will need to commute weekly if the rd is closed with that detour I may consider another option , any info would be much appreciated.

That road building contract could very well be on hold now that Horgan has called an election unless contracts are signed already. I haven’t read anything to indicate one way or the other. Perhaps someone else will chime in with a link or knowledge.EDIT , this indicates there won’t be any daytime closures ????

Sounds like no closures during summer but no mention of winter. Also says work to commence this fall but doesn’t say in detail

I read something last week that they would have posted closures. Going to be a major headache. Have to see what they post once the snow flies.

The contract has been awarded but no work in the next 6 months will affect traffic. After the design is complete they will be hitting it pretty hard and you can expect the following.

Summer

  • During daytime, the highway through the Canyon will remain fully open and free of interruptions, other than momentary traffic control for turning vehicles.
  • Overnight, interruptions may range from 20 minute stoppages to 8 hour closures. The closures will require significant advance notice.
Fall, Winter and Spring

  • Daytime may see stoppages from 20 minutes to 2 hours.
  • There may be closures of up to 10 hours overnight, which will require significant advance notice.
  • In addition, there may be multi-day extended closures from April 1 to the end of May and from mid-September to the end of November.
  • The highway will be kept open for Easter and Thanksgiving long weekends, and there will be two daily peak-hour windows to allow passage for school buses, commuters and other essential local traffic/trips. Extended closures will also require significant advance notice, and the first is now expected to occur in spring 2021.
