This in my opinion is a better set up because there will be far less ice build up on this part compared to the other and I would be less concerned about a balance issue with this one. Someone build this please I will take a pair one for each side.

Yes, that is what we have.. butnot round on the outer due to weight .. The inner portion is what is critical.... As for balance.. not an issue since the shaft has way too manyother things attached to it (track, drivers, snow built up, belt etc) that allows for imbalance.. Our little part weighs next to nothing and compared to the other things.. it is not even a player in that regard.

So i got to see a broken shaft this morning at work. It's the first one we have seen so far. Heres my take on it. 1)There is very little glue between the two pieces on this particular shaft. 2) I can take my 9mm olfa knife and cut into the glue like cutting into a rubber earaser, so to me, it has not cured completely.

That's a real possibility but that was so many years ago he would be much wiser now. They've already played this game. Lmao

Thank god they didn't hire the guy in charge of XP chaincases, clutching, running boards, engines, and electronics. Polaris would be in a real bind then!!!

How is the splined shaft fixed in that fancy reducing end? The thing that looks like the top of a mini gazebo?

From what i gather, they must apply glue to the " gazebo" ie: the splined cap,and also some glue to the long part of the driveshaft then press the splined end into the shaft and hope the glue cures creating there idea of a welded bond. Which makes you wonder, how much glue is actually making it between the two pieces? im sure the tolerances between the parts can't be to great. Seems like the majority of the glue would get scraped away when put together , if you know what i mean.

BTW if anyone is registered as a premium member on snowest and wants to take my photos over there please do so. I'm only a basic member there and can't read past page 3.

I would suggest t that guy must be retired then, cause if he were still active and if he were wiser, you guys wouldn't have ended up with your teeter totter bendy edged tracked excuse for a real mountain chassis bumping the scales by a class leading 50 lb margin. I'd guess your new tech engineers, Tippy and Floppy, are gonna have some challenges in their own futures.

But hey it's got narrower body panels, finally. They're learning, slowly.

Love the motor tho, get it out of that fat chubby redesigned trail sled, put a real clutch in it, fix the goofy steering, knock off some weight, get a rear skid that doesn't need all the gimmickry and compensation, a belt drive system for increased efficiency, and you'll be close. OMG, hold it. Polaris already did that. Lol. Progress always comes with some growing pains, that's the part that sucks.

Just make a new thread. Or, I think it still lets you reply, just not view the big threads.

Flygti32 you got a production date on that particular sled...I'd be interested, seems like the 17 to 19 of September was the bring your kid to work day.

No we don't have a production date for the sled yet. The shaft was brought in out of the sled already.

And of course mines built the 17th. Havent been home to ride it or check the glue overflow on shaft (lol sounds like an elementary school project, or worse yet a porn reference)
Why do u say those dates are bad? Only seen two that failed in that timeframe,,, theres more?
