If they want to cancel sledding then they can cancel it. It's their business, they can do what they want. It isn't a big conspiracy. Wham, money back no more sledding its over. They lost money cancelling it, I doubt they did it because of some desire to scare sledders away.

Road today was worse than when we drive out there Friday. That mud hole almost seems like there's a spring under it.

Riding was super fun. Not really much for pow.

Solid sun burn

But there tenure is based on snowmobile, lol. Secondly how are you going to close out sledders. A big gate. Tenure is tenure, you can't shut people out from crown land. Unless there going to go for a sec 58 closure.
You say Tenure is Tenure, as I understand it, that means for commercial activity only(recreational tenure..??). Can't "close" an area just because they have the commercial tenure. Please go on about a sec 58 closure...?

sec 58, generally is a recreation closure of some sorts by legislation. See the sign up at silent. Sec 58 is worse than caribou closure as the dates span from dec 1 to apr 30. Sec 58 is fully closed, and open to those within the date to whom instituted it. If there is a road passing through a sec 58 closure, it as well is closed.

The other way chatter can close something to sledders is to BUY the forest service road up to there lodges. Once they do that it is a private roadway and can barricade it any way they want. This has also been done around golden, go have a look see on any map for blue water fsr. This was de-commissioned in a pretty radical way as they didn't want sledders in ther heli area.

Let's not get carried away. That road will not close. The area surrounding the road has campsites, lakes, boat launches, and lots of other recreation also. They would create enemies of all sorts. I think they make money with us sledders and will still stay open, as long as they stay afloat.

Let me clarify. If it was a option they would not buy bush forest service road. Only there section from km 73 into the lodge. Chatter creek forest service road.

Update from Chatter today.

Chatter Creek Snowmobile Season – REFUND/CANCELLATION UPDATE

Many of you have asked for full or partial refunds for the 2016 season.

Generally, as is standard practice throughout the industry, we have a no refund policy.

Our skiers, as with our snowmobilers are given full credits in the case of a cancellation by Chatter Creek.

This is well documented and understood by our skiers.

However, we recognise that was not clearly communicated to our snowmobiling community.

That issue will be addressed going forward, however as it pertains to 2016, we have decided to offer that option.

For those of you who have already confirmed your spots (or would like to) for the 2017 season, you can leave all funds with us or request a 75% refund.

In that instance, the remaining balance on those trips will be due in February, 2017.

For those of you who do not want to confirm your spots for next season, you may hold a credit with us orrequest a full refund.

In that case, please note we will not be able to guarantee your spots in 2017 should you decide to book at a later date.

We will be contacting each of you in the coming week to determine how you would like to proceed.

As a note, we appreciate your patience while we have worked through this unprecedented event.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at: 1.877.311.7199.

Thanks,

Clare

Ok kids ...

I just got back from 3 crazy days camping at chatter and met so many great people and not 1 douchebag ...

I personally spoketo charlie, the state of the road is the issue, and the primary reason for the cancelation. Other factors of concern were avy conditions due to warm temps and poor snow quality. Basicly there was no fresh snow anywhere.
He said they were concerned they would be responsible for damage to the road they would be unable to fix properly in a timely manor as they r due to hand it over to L.P. shortly.
There r many wet n soft spots all the way in.

Also, they r not in anyway trying to keep sledders out. Obviously there r areas they want us to ride and areas they dont. But they have no intensions of cancelling sled season.

From the man himself.

Many guys said it was the worst snow season they have ever seen there. But for those of us that have never been it was great as we couldtravel everywhere with ease and blue skys !!!

We put on well over 200km in 3 days ...

Snow quality was pizz poor ... never have I had such a good time riding such crap snow !!!
Isomthermal with a crust on top was common, sure it made for easy travel but hard on man and machine at times. Even on glaciers it was crapy!
Blue skys, big new terrain at highest elevation we, ve ever riden is wot made our trip great. We were 6 ridges away from lodge towards columbia icefeilds, and that was great, but stupid warm temps.
Guys were tryn to snowboard and it didnt look like fun!

If u want to explore big new terrain and vis is good then it will b great, but in poor vis, tracked out isothermal schoo is it.
Trail in from top car park is mud for a ways ...

IMO ...
