I am contemplating getting a new cell phone. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with both the apple phone and the Samsung. I am a telus user ( unfortunate) and my signal strength in the I phone seems weeks always. Is the signal on the android phones any better. Is it worth switching phones. Looking for anyone with some experiences I live rurally around calgary aswell. Thx

I'm not an iPhone user, so I can't really compare. However, I am quite happy with the reception on my Galaxy and where I do have issues, my iFriends are also generally having issues.

The wifey and I have both had iPhone 5s since it was released.
No concerns with reception at all. They are used from Sicamous to East of Saskatoon.

Sent from my phone ---- is anyone there ?????

Good point Summitguy, your provider plays a big part it this as well.
I'm on Telus.

I'm with bell... Same towers as Telus

My htc phone, compared to my wife's Samsung , I'd have one bar, she would have 3 plus, side by side

sent while I should be drinking tea's

I have a Iphone 3G with Telus, and a work Iphone 4S with Bell.
Where Telus loses signal, Bell will have full bars and visa versa.
There is a 1KM spot Innsifail that both both phones will have No Service!!!
I have only heard whore stories about Rodgers, but have never tried them myself.

and I'm assuming you are on Telus. If one is on the highway, it is MHO that Telus has the most and the best coverage. Phones are second to the service provider and all I have had that is new is the iPhone. My last phone was an old Samsung flip and it was good in it's day!

Pick Anything that gets on the Telus network and a 3watt Wilson booster to get you covered. The booster is around $300 with some shopping. my iPhone 4s had better coverage than my blackberry but I can't comment on how iPhone compared to android. got 5s now and could talk on it between castle junction and lake Louise with minimal to none no service areas if that helps you.

The difference in phones is marginal. It's the provider and the amount of bandwidth they have in each area that makes or breaks the ability to connect. More people talking for a given bandwidth determines whether you connect or not. The providers decide where to invest the money for infrastructure. That's why service is better on major highways and gets worse the farther out you go. If you're in a rural area and a bunch of users move in suddenly ( like for a construction job) your ability to connect will diminish.

I was with Rogers on my I phone 4gs. Was not too happy with some of my service. Switched to i phone 5 with bell and I gained a few bars in places I had no service before.
