Looked at mine with Enmax locked in at:
6.89¢/kWh
5-Year Fixed Electricity
Expiry Date: September 20, 2026 in Parkland County,

Not sure if that's good or bad. I only use an average of 610 KWH Winter / 400 in Summer, The other fees are more than the power bill
Out here we only have St.Anne Gas company for Natural Gas
That’s what my daughter has for a rate Ron in Calgary with the same approx expiry date. That is a great rate. Boy are you in for a surprise in 2026!😬

I had excellent rates locked in when I lived in Calgary. Moved to Parkland County and my only options are St Anne Gas and Duffield REA...and whatever they charge. No lock ins available.

Thst being said, 80% of our bill has nothing to do with what we use. It's all the BS fees and charges

I'm locked in with ATCO Energy at $0.0679/kWh until February 2024.
Natural Gas is through West Parkland Gas, and is at a very good rate.

Current "locked in rates" from what I can see on the ATCO site is $0.1269/kWh

Epcor rates were the same.

I just locked in with EasyMax on Friday at $12.99 for 5 years and can break contract as many times as I like, if rates drop or raise. And capped at 12.99
Enmax isn’t available in Fort Macleod, only Epcor. The enmax rep I was speaking to said, that my best bet, was to go with EasyMax and lock in.
I had no problems getting through as I’m moving from Calgary to Ft Macleod

Dunno what Direct energy is up to. More expensive than epcor.

Exact same Enmax rate to December 2026, had 5.79 before this contract.

No brainer to lock in whatever you can with Enmax as I think you can swap over to variable anytime.

Next few years expect very low natural gas pricing as US shale continues to gas out, so hopefully that translates to lower power price.

Do y'all think rates will go down? Just got a letter from my electricity provider (Duffield REA) and I have an option to lock in at $0.125 for 12 months that i cant break or pay 0.154 this month to recoup the losses they paid over the winter and whatever the non RRO rates are going forward.

If it was me I'd lock in, even if prices do go down I doubt they'll be much below $0.125/kwh.

Summer and winter are typically the highest prices, spring and fall the lowest. Prices are likely pretty close to the bottom right now.

I was paying aound .32 last summer for the hottest months using the A/C. Locked in for a 5 year contract - not doing that variable again..it used to be worth the risk for variable but doesn’t make sense anymore. Here are the historical rates for epcor.

Well I was locked in for $0.6xx in Calgary last fall, that's why I'm hesitant for 0.125. If you think it's on the lower end now, I'll lock in I guess

From the way I understood when I signed up you can call them if the price is lower & lock in again at that lower price.

Just signed up with enmax, 12.79 for 5 years, Lac St. Anne gas is only option too out in chickakoo :(

Looking at the auc rates at 30 cents earlier this year got me scared. Rolling the dice with 12.79

Enmax you are only really locked in for a month though. You can change back and forth once a month.

We have Just Energy for power and gas in Leduc
On the farm it’s Battle River for power and we get Lo Cost propane.
Just filled propane at .41 C last week. Was .52 in January
