Whitecourt Trailblazers Media Ride 2102

I went to Whitecourt today to report on this Media Ride. Today was a wonderfull day for a ride up there. Sunday they recieved 6-8" of snow and the trails were in EXCELLENT shape. This event is put on every year to promote snowmobiling. The Trailblazers partner up with the Alberta Snowmobile Association to put this on. This year the new Minister of Tourism and Parks attended and a few of his staff. The local MLA is a big supporter of snowmobling and he is a rider also. Mayor of the city and the municipality were there as well as members of other local clubs. The Golden Triangle Snowmobile Trail was also officially reopened today. The 3 clubs involved Whitecourt,Fox Creek and Swan Hills recieved some money to clear and get the trail ready for this season. Here are some pics from the day enjoy. Not very often in this province that we even get a chance to talk to a Minister of Tourism and Parks but today we rode with one. Jack Hayden is the guy. he has his own sled,quad and uses them. Maybe this guy will help get this province going on snowmobiling. Jack on the right ASA president on the left

Are the trails out there good enough to ride?? I have two trail passes bought and paid for that havent seen a trail. Thinking Saturday will be a good day to ride?

They were on Sunday and apparently Tuesday. It's been warm here but not too much sun in the bush and freezing good at night. trails should be OK but scratchers would probably be a good idea. There is supposed to be a crew clearing some windfall on the trail from the Carson cabin towards Swan Hills On Saturday so keep an eye out if you are heading in that direction.

Yes they have trail passes. You haven`t bought your pass yet?? More money now that its past Jan 1st. I think they are going to have people at the staging area. Just north of the casino is the EAGLE RIVER STAGING AREA. Trails start from there Have a good day Andrew

I was a member of the Swan Hills Sno-Goers from 1967 until 1984
Glad to hear they are still going
I remember riding the golden triangle on boogie suspended sleds with solid front axles! lol

Andrew, you can get trail passes at RPM or IGA here in town as well.

A big thanks to Glen for being our unofficial photographer for the day. It was greatly appreciated. The snow and trail conditions around White court were fantastic. As was the hospitality of White court

It was a beautiful day, Ken, Dan, Kim and all the rest of the riders were great and the trails were in really good shape. I had a blast and would love to try to be there again next year. Thank you all for putting on such a wonderful program. If you can get there next year to help support the industry and the club go for it!
