So at the end of the day....
Did you do it for the project, or to make a buck? No question it appears and likely runs good like new. Sell it on, do another? What’s the goal? (Not dissing at all, Merv...just curious. I’ve polished a few turds in the past and never seem to come out ahead, lol)

This one was just a project to see what was involved in resurrecting it. I’ve been working on small engines my whole life. I picked the generator up for $500, I’ve put in about $400 and I could sell it for $1500 - $1700. If I added up my labor I would be losing money big time lol.
Always good to have a sideline for when I retire
This one is going to be my camping generator I think.

Removed the flywheel and cleaned it and the stator. Reset the air gap on the coil. Used my fluke meter to test output voltage loaded and unloaded. Cleaned all connections on the inverter.

Didn't take any pictures.
Neighbors kid brought his '79 Dodge truck over. Crew cab short box of all things.
He changed the coil on it (not sure why)
They (him and his buddy) took it for a ride around his buddues acerage. Ran great until they shut it off
Then it wouldn't start.

Findings so far. She's got really weak spark.
Told him to pick up some new wires. A new cap new rotor and because its a magnetic pick up in the distributor, which I don't know much about. I told him get another one too.
Next weekend we'll reassemble and try again.

Picked up parts for the Willys! Hoping the cam isn’t too lumpy but oh well! Should sound cool for a little 4.3L
Had the heads decked, new valves a little machining and a port polish job. The other hope is the valve covers still fit with the new adjustable rockers.
