The 850 is so far ahead that it's well worth dealing with the small issues this year. Everyone who upgraded jumped on the 850 and instantly became a better rider. The bottom end on that motor puts mod sleds to shame.

Bottem and mid range engine works great! Its got alot of issues and I prefer the XM handling over it its very twitch in front and wants to turn up side hill and through the trees the Axys handles much better IMO. I had an 850 ordered and kept my T# xm and Axys and I'm very glad i did after rideing a couple and seeing the issues and a few hooked to chopppers. spend half the money and put a turbo on my Axys and it it twice the fun now and with the 36' front end handles amazing

Cat might be the best of both worlds for you but you might have to get a mullet. Life is a compromise.

A good thread and a great write up by the OP.

I think you must be overly sensitive towards my comments and observations.

Any G4 owner who came off an XM has expressed time and time again how great the chassis is and easy to ride compared to the XM. If it's that much better, and really I haven't put one through the paces other than quick rides because I don't want to wreck someone's new sled, but knowing how highly praised the XM has been by people like yourself for the last several years it can only be proof that the G4 is the clear winner.

So if the G4 doesn't make you a better rider having come off a XM, then what does?

And did you read my first post? Obviously you managed to neglect that and read what you want.

Anyways, back on topic....

I have an assault and I kinda wish I woulda got the narrower pro chassis instead. The extra couple inches makes a huge difference. Even compared to my buddy's 15 pro....His feels so much lighter and easier to tip than mine.

The big ol steel a arms definitely do not help the weight issue, but small trees don't really stand a chance haha. Along with the cow pusher.....

Other than that, it is still quite easy for me to sidehill and the sled usually takes me where I wanna go.....And as far as my confidence will let me haha.

Perhaps a zbros spindle kit next year?

You can put the same 36" front end kit on your Assault as they sell for Pro RMKs, right? Just do that.

All polaris are to wide not just the assult 36" kit makes a big difference 39" on a mountainsled is way to wide unless your jumping

I have often wondered what the 36 has to offer over stock on the Axys. Doing some research on what the professional guys are doing is making me hesitant. Dan Gardiner upgraded his Axys but stuck with the 39 inch. He is probably one of the most aggressive and well rounded riders and kept his at 39.

I had a S36 kit and sway bar removed on my XP and when I jumped on my Pro with the 39 and sway bar installed I was so happy that i left it as is and kept my Axys stock also.

I hear guys say the Doo really likes to dive when initiating an uphill turn. True, but to me that unloads the back end to much and now you are close to washing out. The pro and axys just seem so much more predictable in this situation even if it is slightly harder to initiate.

Thanks to OP for great review. Among most unbiased review I've ever read on here.

Can definately agree with you on the boards. As a guy who has 14/15 feet I could never get comfortable on any Polaris with the narrow boards.

Yea. I'm getting used to mine now, I'll probably just keep it stock. Considering I only have 10 hours on it haha. Not even outta break-in.

The 36 front end is not needed on the axys. I'd recommend it for women riders that are trying to make the sled easier to get on edge. Upgrading to 36 is quite costly considering you need new a-arms, shocks, tie rods, spindle modification (on some brands). Replacement a-arms are not laying around either. With the 39 if you can fit the skis through the trees then the whole sled will go through.

The 36" makes a big difference down hill decents the 39" front end is planted in comparison to a xm or 850. Pulling a 39 vs 36 back into the hillside the 36 just roles that much easier. Maybe its from years on XM's but riding 39" felt like a trail sled and i almost sold my Axys and went with 2 xm's put 36" on and down hill tree and riding made a big difference and i choose the Axys over the XM now. It all comes down to rider preference but i have let 5 or 6 people try my 36" 2 owned stock 39 and everyone so far said it was a total improvement. Z bros kut is cheep 600 dollars with tie rods and way stronger then stock dog **** a arms that bend on the trail on guys.
