Anyone install an OEM skid plate on an Ascender chassis? I used to put them on my Proclimbs (3) and really liked the added protection. Bought one for my new to me Alpha and they seem like a lot more work to install then the Proclimb ones were. Local AC dealer quoted me between $280-$350 to install which seems outrageous to me. Do you guys feel like the added protection is necessary? Also does anyone know a different brand that might be a little easier to install?

Put the arctic cat one on. It’s easy. Install the bolts that are easy to see. And then drill and install bolts where you think they would needed to hold it tight. Just watch for coolant lines running on the belly pan. Half the screws I put in mine were put in freestyle locations. Here
Ifound a old picture of where the screws n bolts went

I wouldn't ride without one. Mine came installed but it looks like a bit of a bitch to install as it is largely bolted with nuts. I would probably use rivets.

There's a few fasteners that aren't worth it. I added a couple along the edges where it's easy to access, and will hold it tight. Can probably slap one on in 30 minutes now

Definitely install it. Protects the dropped chaincase.

Like said, don’t take the instructions to literal and they are easy to install, put one on my 18 when it was new and put one on dads 19 cat last year and one on my alpha as well. Took me about 45 minutes each I think, definitely under an hour anyway. Drill holes to get oil to drain is a good tip if you don’t have a belt drive
