I switched out my factory 21 tooth top gear for a 19 tooth and it works, but doesn't leave much for adjustment.

Can I take a link out some how? or do I need a different chain?

Thanks Dan

I would get a shorter chain As you have some Kms racked up.

Probably a good idea,, but is it hard to remove a link? Never tried on one of these chains.

Same as always just replaced a chain when I used a chain.
If you could find a 51 tooth bottom and 20 top it would give you same ratio ( very close) and a bigger top gear also.
Just a thought

It comes stock with the 51 toot bottom. I might try a 20 tooth top, but I really like it how it is.

So Id really like to just take a link out, or if I can't I'll get a shorter chain.

Thanks Dan:beer:

What is it now? 108 or 106?

measure the center to center distance on the two drive shafts and I can calc. it out for you.

edit.... Assuming the case is 27mm longer (13.9165 c to c) than a standard case, you will need a 110 chain at minimum for either a 19 or 20 top gear. Actual links calculated for a 19 top is 109.22 links, so round up.

Thanks Oler! But does anyone know if you can take a link out? Is there a master link on these chains or no? I've never looked that close at them.

Yes use can, you will need a new pin and be able to crush it. Usually the master link is black vs grey like the rest.

that being said I have never really had any success with something that lasts...

chain in type is a "silent" chain. Common in most everything these days

Dan are you noticing belt temps and clutches having less heat with that gearing?

Couldn't tell you, should be better theoretically. I did blow a belt a few days ago though...lol
