I am not sure if I wanna do the framing, etc. myself over a weekend with some buds, or have it all done by a contractor. Need the slab done for sure, and it will require a pumper I think. Anyone have a positive experience with a contractor out that way??

Yup, sure enough on pouring in the winter...concrete needs to be kept at a minimum 10 degrees C for a minimum of 3 days. Also, depending on the size, (not sure about BC) but in AB, the maximum size of a slab on grade is 55 sq m (about 572 sq ft), anything bigger would require engineer's input. Highly recomend doing a saw cut for the slab for control joints, or putting in zip strips. Also, minimum concrete strength required is 32mpa, make sure they don't cut on this..get the batch slip. Hope this helps some!
