Me, my buddy, and my daughter are building mini stock car to race at Saratoga Speedway,it's a 92 protege,we built it more HD then rules but for her first car we wanted it safe,we already have the next car we will build, alot lighter and competitive but for now she can drive this tank in B class till she is alittle more seasoned, she just turned 17,she is pretty excited and I'm looking forward to doing something other then horse's,so this is what it started like.

Well got it structurely done, added a fuel pump shut off switch, was going to paint it red and grey with white numbers and letters but was out voted so now it's staying this colour with black bumpers and grey the steel, she's getting alittle nervous and excited now it's done.

Well her first race night went ok,spun out once in practice,no damages, got in a trophy dash did good,3rd, started front row in the heat race was holdings her own then spun o

out and backed it in a tire wall at slow speed, again no real damage, started second row for the 25 lap main held her own pretty good till the leaders a group of 4 caught up to her,one ended up spinning her out on the front stretch, surprisingly her driving kept it from being a catastrophe so just a bumper graze,I'm relieved then about 50 seconds later this young boy plows into the right front as she is waiting to turn around, some decent damage but able to continue, after that she was pissed and bared down coming home with a 13th out of 22 cars, although the spinner and kid not paying attention both got black flagged, all and all a good showing for first time ever on the track.oh and just my luck someone registered the number 25 2 days before us so now we are number 5,my racing number for all my years of racing so it must have been ment to be in the end,we are back at it on the 16th,I'll let yous no how it goes.

Good for her, it takes alota guts but it's so worth it. Me and my wife both entered a truck demo derby once and we were pretty scared, and for good reason they pounded the guts out of us, we were the only 2 fuel injection trucks against old 3/4 tons, I made it to 4th but had no truck left, really good fun, gotta do it once again probably do cars though lol.

That's cool the both of you did it together,it's a rush alright,I did crash to pass for afew seasons it's exciting but got tired of building new cars so went onto Street stocks, you definitely need to do it again.git the damage fixed pretty good and drilled out the catalytic converter so it can breathe abit better, good to go now.the only problem with keeping it stock colour is trying to find paint to match for touch ups

Well race 2 went not so well,we practiced good, qualified 15 out of 26,started5 of 8 in the heat race moved up to 3rd then the rear trailing arm broke and that ended our night.starting to see how hard it is to find parts for these old cars so no luck yet finding one,so we built our own, drove around the neighborhood disturbing the neighbors and seems good, only one more this season on the last Saturday of the month, hope it goes better, also going to upgrade to 14 inch rims and tires if I can locate some.

Here is our fix.looks like the exhaust leaking for years rotted the one half really good it's a wonder it lasted this long, there is also alittle rot in the axle frame but lots of meat left so should last awhile, checked everythinghing else out and it all looks really good so that's what we figured happened.

So we had a good final weekend, the home fix worked great, our best qualifying ever,13th,had a good heat race finishing 3rd but since her lap time was almost a second faster in the heat then qualifying we got hit with the sandbag rule and had to start at the very back of the main event,so started 25th on the field and fought her way up to 15 th,she dodged afew good crash and took alittle damaged on the same front fender due to driver's not holding there line but it's mostly kids so it's expected,so the season is over, cars still in good shape,we learned alot and should be more competitive out of the gate next year, going to start working on the next car soon but I'm in the process of trying to buy a better car for our next one,a 98 Acura Integra,it at the auction and they only went down to$800 with no interest so I'll go back tomorrow, hoping to get it for around $500,if I do the newer Mazda will be sold,I'll keep updating this as we go although not sure there is much interest but oh well I'll do it anyways, anyone else out there do any racing?if so I'd love to hear about it and see what you run.
