Butchering a Cow prices and Where?

No prob, if you do buy a live one, ask and likely have pay a bit extra for 21 days hanging or 28. Makes a difference vs what commercial and even butchers do 7-14 days. They don’t like to plug up their hang fridge but it makes a big difference. Like the old Keg adds “28 day aged grain feed beef”

Stupid city boy question...... What about a younger dairy cow/heifer?

I remember being told that the older they got the tougher the meat got. Any truth in this, or leave dairy cows for milking?

Holsteins are great to eat but take longer to fatten (24 months) and have higher carcass loss.

Veal is good milk fed babies slaughtered 3-5 months old.

We've been raising pigs the last 4 winters and Haven't bought a piece of beef since. My family of 4 will eat 3 a year.
No matter what type of meat buying direct is the way to go. Keeps the money out of corporate hands.
