Happy to Report that " ULAR " is back in Blue River and has Blessed Us with Close to...

8 - 10 Inches so far ! Yahoooooooo !!

The Snow is the Fluffy Stuff.....

The Hi-Ways are Compact VERY Slippery !

There is a 5 Semi Truck Jam at Allen Creek Hill.....Oh Joy...

I think they will have that Cleared up in about 1 Hour or so !

Saturday High of -4C. with Isolated Flurries 1-3 cms. Snow expected...

Cariboo's & Monashee Mountain Range...

Thursday , Friday , Saturday.... ALL 3 Days are the same due to the Recent Snowfall....

ALPINE.... CONSIDERABLE

TEELINE..... CONSIDERABLE

BELOW TREELINE..... CONSIDERABLE

Primary Concerns....

DEEP SLAB: Persistent DEEP SLAB Avalanches are expected to be isolated but the Consequences remain " EXTREMELY HIGH "

Storm Snow.... Northern Regions and Western Regions of the Monashee's have received...35-45cms. of Low density Snow.

This Storm Snow is Bonding " Poorly " to the Existing Bed Surface and has been Observed

To Run FAR & FAST !

SOFT SLABS are Forming in OPEN / EXPOSED AREAS....

These Surfaces include a Wide Spread " Surface Hoar Layer " Below 1800m

Sun Crusts on Solar Aspects ;

Facets on Shady Slopes ; Hard & Soft Wind Slabs ; and Wind Crust on Wind Exposed

On ALPINE and TREELINE .

A Layer of Weak Facets buried over Christmas is now Down approximatley 100-120cms.

BUT.....AS Deep as 180cms. and can still be Triggered by light Loads in Thin Snowpack areas....

Below this lies more Facets and Deteriorating Crusts Buried late in November and Early in December.

ALL of these Thick Faceted Lower Layers have the Potential to Propagate Fractures

Over INCREDIABLE Distances , with Avalanches that "Rip out "... WALL to WALL !!

Please Play Safe out there !
