Advice on a 2013 pro rmk

Thinking about selling my 2011 800 etec and buying a 2013 pro rmk, 1500 miles for $5000. Not sure if the top or bottom has ever been. Is the pro a good sled, pros and cons? If the top or bottom has never been done when can I expect to do it?

The 13's were a solid sled, however at 1500 miles I would be looking at the engine. The piston skirts still had the ability to bust off and take the engine out completely. Seen it first hand on a sled with 1800 miles. Proper top end maintenance is expect for long engine life. A Mntek Fix kit really wakes up the engine and is a good investment.

If it had pistons changed you may be alright. I would ask if they were OEM or not. no updates that I remember, other then then the driveshaft clamp.

i just sold a 14 pro with 4415 kms on it. It was running great but I was planning to get lindermann to install a fix it kit on it as a precaution but decided to sell it. The buyer was aware of the kms

Put in the fix kit and enjoy. Don't gamble on the stock top end. You will have a solid sled that will be good for many miles.

007, I'm disappointed in you. The 2013 had probably the most infamous recall in the history of snowmobiles. THE CLAMP.

What is typical life span on a pro rmk top end? Are some years better than others? I'm half ass new to sledding, I've had my etec for 4 years so it's all I know. I pretty much just grease it, do clutches, get on it and go .

Top end will likely outlast your ownership. Once the kit is in the issue is gone.

They have many kits on their website. Is it the one that says fix kit?

Yes. The drop in kit is a fix kit with a few minor changes if you want to wake it up. Have run both successfully.

so the durability kit is all that is needed? $500 seems like a good price. Is this something diy job or something a dealer should do?

really trying to convince myself to try a Polaris

Depends on your skills. Pretty easy if engines don't scare you.

The engine compartment on these sleds are tight. Everybody has there different ways of doing it. Its not a bid job if your comfortable around engines, however that been said We have more then one thread on here about guys who have done their own work not totally knowing what they are doing and the engine didn't run right afterwards. You will have to pull the top end completely apart to the base.
