Looking at a 1990 kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 quad with about 250kms on it ..... What are the good/bad points about it, and what would it be worth?? It obviously looks like new......

We had one our farm growing up. It was a tough quad! Not sure what its worth, probably was only about $5000 brand new.

low horsepower, good putz around quad, probably be a good machine if you want something that will be low maintenance and light.

Would be a good kids quad or for getting around some property. Can't see paying more than $2g for it.

My 1987 moto-4 was in the same condition when I bought it. I paid $800 with a plow, sold the plow for $150, put 1800km on it and then sold it for $500.

Be an awesome little quad, given the condition the seller might get $2000 from the right buyer but maybe not, it is 23 years old. My 300 kawasaki Lakota had an oil leak from the shifter seal, was going to be a costly repair.

I had one of those for a survey quad waaaay back when. Good machine. Only issue was timing chains/poor oiling to top end and worn rockers...but that one hasn't got enough miles on it to worry about. Age: bad. Condition: good/new. I wouldn't pay over a couple grand. 1500 would be a good deal given it's age.

I've got a 93 400 Bayou. Good quad. Top speed on mine is 60kph and it's working hard at top speed.

where ya going to get parts? as dave said, poor camshaft, camshaft rocker arm design, best to drive it till it craters, full time 4x4, small tires. listen for a scrapping type noise in top end. buy cheap.
