This logic becomes a very slippery slope though. If Israel has claim to that land after a lack of Jewish presence for 1600 years, does that mean First Nations have claim to all our land in Canada? How about Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine was historically part of Russia, and is where much of Russia's roots originate.

I thought that as well but if they want to man up and take it back come on over. As far as Russia did not the Soviet Union when dissolved by their leadership give autonomy back to the states to be independent from Russia? That would make it their decision to let them go. Sounds like the Jews were ran out of dodge by machete point.

Absolutely the Soviet allowed the Ukraine to become autonomous. But what's the statute of limitations on something like this? 1600 years is a long time to go back on.

Personally I'm not really concerned about it in this case, there's 2 groups here that are pretty determined to not coexist peacefully. I'm more interested in the prescedent this could/has set.

It’s been Islam against Christianity since 2000 yrs ago. Before that it was Islam against Islam. They like to fight. Lucky they aren’t good at it.
very sad place, fighting over a bit of sand, rock and rubble? Palestinians don't even attempt to better themselves, just collect handouts, beat their woman, and use there citizens as human shields! very sad people they are. I wonder why there women put up with such crap!

Bing AI side of the story...haha

The Israel-Gaza war is a conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that controls the Gaza Strip. The war started on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel with thousands of rockets and fighters. Israel responded with airstrikes and a blockade on Gaza, and threatened to launch a ground invasion. The war has caused thousands of casualties and massive displacement on both sides, as well as international condemnation and calls for a ceasefire. Here are some key points about the war:

  • Hamas’s attack: Hamas said it attacked Israel to retaliate for the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, the blockade on Gaza, and the violence at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Hamas claimed to have fired 5,000 rockets at Israel in the first barrage, but Israel said it was 2,500. Hamas also infiltrated Israel through land, air and sea, killing more than 1,200 Israelis and taking many hostages12.
  • Israel’s response: Israel declared war on Hamas and vowed to destroy its military infrastructure and leadership. Israel also cut off food, water, electricity and other supplies to Gaza, creating a humanitarian crisis for the 2.3 million people living there. Israel said it had mobilized 300,000 troops near the Gaza border and was ready for a ground invasion123.
  • Casualties and displacement: The war has been the deadliest in 50 years, with more than 2,000 people killed on both sides. More than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, mostly civilians, and more than 6,600 have been injured. More than 1,300 Israelis have been killed, mostly soldiers, and more than 3,200 have been injured. Nearly 340,000 Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza, with many seeking shelter in UN schools456.
  • International reaction: The war has sparked widespread condemnation and protests around the world, as well as diplomatic efforts to end the violence. The UN Security Council has called for an immediate ceasefire and respect for international humanitarian law. The US has expressed support for Israel’s right to self-defense, but also urged restraint and de-escalation. Egypt, Qatar and the UN have been mediating between Israel and Hamas to reach a truce .

Yeah I’m not buying that the majority of Israeli’s killed are soldiers. On a side note the foreign minister from Iran met with Hamas leadership today in Qatar. Wonder what they talked about? 🙄

Watching coverage tonight and showing all the protests in favour of Palestine and Hamas. Thinking the quickest way to disperse these crowds would have guys with FBI jackets walking through the crowd taking pictures of people and asking for ID. I would expect that would clean the streets pretty fast. Tell them you’re going back home to your country.

Or do like they did in Paris today, arrest them all.

The French don't fawk around. We arrived in Paris by train 2 days after that 17 year old was shot by the police officer and they started rioting. I'd never seen so many M16's before and we hadn't left the train station yet. Civil disobedience is handled swiftly and decisively there.

If our government arrested them we might end up giving them $$$$$$ in the end
