Same with me... 9.3 hp ski-doo that the neighbor bought. He never should’ve told us that all you had to do to start it,was to unplug the ignition. He he... my first solo sled ride.

Late 60 s snowcruiser . I never knew they were so popular. Buddy had a snowjet with chrome ski s . We would ride all over in -40 c . Good old days

Used to ride go to snowmobile rallies at -30 ,,,,,,, I think -30 and -40 was warmer back then

Those Liquifires were fast and still are. I was watching one of the stock oval classes at the World Championships at Eagle River a few weeks ago and there was a Liquifire leading the pack in one of the heat races.

My dad bought us boys a new Skiroule RT 500, the old boy never rode it. Said if he needs to go anywhere out back he would take his horses.
That sled only seen one season the throttle froze (-40) my sister was driving it, bailed, and the sled hit the corner of the barn at about 60 mph.
Christmas of 1971, Dad showed up with a 1971 Polaris 530 Custom II. That sled is the reason that I still ride Polaris, it never quit, in fact the motor is in an arctic cat now and still runs... That pic ^^^ of the 340 tnt free air is what my neighbour rode (ended up being my brother-in-law), that sled is the reason I will never own a doo��, we just left the rope on the front of that pile of crap. My Polaris pulled that thing more miles than it ever travelled on its own..... the good ole days....

My dads 340 free air scattered the motor the first winter he owned it. He then put a Sachs 340C twin in it. The sled still has that engine it and it runs good today.

The oldest snowmobile i have ever rode or driven was my mom 1970 Ski-Doo Nordic. I honestly don't remember the engine size as i was too young at the time, it was a current sled for the time and they belonged to the local club. My dad had a Cat at the time but i was not allowed to touch it.

The oldest sled i have ever owned was actually a 1972 Yamaha 338SL, if memory serves me. But it was a collector already, this was in the 90's that i picked it up horse trading with someone. It didn't run very well, bad carb. so i installed a basic Mukuni motorcycle carb. and a vacuum pump, viola ran like a charm after that. Sold it to a friend who had a farm.

As for the oldest sled i owned and rode, that would be my 1976 340 Ski-Roule, and shortly after my two 1978 Rupp Nytro and Arctic Cat Panther all new from dealer.
The Ski-Roule, Rupp and Cat dealer were the same, basically a tool rental shop. I believe he even had Moto-Ski in there.
All these sleds were purchased for under $1500 each.
The Ski-Roule and Rupp i'm sure were the cheapest at around $8-1000 while the Cat was cream of the crop at the time and price reflected that.
All three of these sleds were aluminum chassis, slider suspensions, so state of the art for the time period. While most others were steel chassis and 50/50 mix with bogie wheels.

1969 Arlberg lost the engine cover and would suck your scarf into the carb and stall the motor out think it was a saach single cylinder with carb between drivers legs the good old day

1970 WildOne just like this one. It had a 292 single cylinder Hirth? engine. Top speed was a breathtaking 50 mph on hardpack. Awesome wind protection behind that big windshield!
