Thought about that too, but in the end I didn't want an unproven machine as my first sled. Here's the picture I discovered out there right now: Doo - Proven machine but a little long in the tooth. Lacks the "new" factor so dealers are dropping the prices to get them out the door.2012 Cat - Unproven machine so dealers are dropping prices to entice people to try them out. Pro- Has the "new" factor and a full year under it's belt to work out the kinks and to get people talking. As a result it's the sled everyone wants this year. The dealers know it and they aren't moving on the price because they know if you don't but it, there are 100 other guys waiting in line.In my case, I was looking for a good price and I didn't want to be a guinea pig, so it was an easy choice for me.

From Central Oregon but will go anywhere there's f
I’ma 5’ 7” girl.. Been a Doo fan since 1999. My last Doo was the 07 Rev 800 151 and LOVED IT!!! Was going to stick with it forever…
Got to ride a Pro at the C.O. Ladies Ride this past year and thought hmmm…
Later in the year I was able to cop-a-squat on the Etec… No difference for me to justify the $$$ of updating. Thought I was gunna save money and keep my 07 Rev.
Then… I got to cop a squat on the Etec and the Pro side by side, had some fresh meadow pow, side hilling, a few feet of packed trail and boon docking in just a short distance to play in…
I should of given both those guys a tank of fuel a piece as I kept going back and forth trying my best to love the Etec… NOT!!!
I was able to pick up a ski on the Pro with ease and hold it on the sidehill, pull a powder curl, (even though I wound up in the snow making snow angles) never done that on my Doo unless there was at least a foot of fresh pow… Couldn’t get off the Etec fast enough the last time as I couldn’t keep a ski in the air and trying the powder curl, it did great continuing to go straight!!! (Not enough upper body strength)
Sold my Doo, just put a new 2011 800 155 Pro in the trailer for this year.
Not enough changes in the 11 – 12 Pro to justify the extra $$$ they wanted for the 2012…
Now I can’t wait to get out there and giggle all the way playing without wearing myself out!!!
There’s my “humble” opinion and we all laugh about how “humble” I am!!!

What did you pay for your pro if you don't mind me asking? I just picked up a 2011 summit sp OTD with accessories and 3 year warranty for 12,500. I condidered all options on this one but I couldn't find a dealer anywhere who would part with a 155 Pro for less than 13,000...before tax and all the other add-ons.

2012 163 Pro Retro, 13,300 otd including tax and accessories with 3 yr warranty.

Whats wrong someone that tried out the doo and poo side by side and for there riding style didn't like the doo, you try to say they cant ride and stuff. One of these days you'll grow up and realize that someone other than doo makes a good sled.

Can't go wrong with new doo or cat rode with to many poo's seen to many on the end of a stiff rope, takes more than a year on the snow to win me back to riding a polaris

so the pros are like 2g cheaper than the etec? what gives brp?

Sad to say but yes for some reason the doo is by far the most expensive in canada. A buddy in mcbride was gonna snowcheck a new doo 163 x package eatrt and it was gonna be like 14,500.00 out the door and i got my 2012 M8 sno pro's for more than 2G cheaper than that and i know that the poo and cats are really close in price.

And i totally agree that it takes more than one year on the snow to prove that the poo motor is good. Thats why we dont have any for rentals this season. But i do beleive that they got the motor figured out now.

I am waiting unpatiently for my 2012 x to show up looked at my options in the spring and went with the doo not do to being brand loyal i am open to everything but with awesome dealer support three year warranty and in my mind best out of the box performance, my riding group is dead even with cats and doo's use to have a dragon in the mix but the guy was so fed up he quit sledding all together he only ever owned polaris so not going to hop on the pro band wagon anytime soon.

Maybe I missed it but why hasn't anyone mentioned the hp?

800 doo - 163.9
800 poo - 143.2
800 cat - 163.4

20 hp is alot to give up.

I took those numbers out of an American Snowmobiler comparison.

i didnt see any issues with the pros last year and there were alot of them out. years prior i broke alot of ropes hauling the old ones out

I have to agree. I kept my '06 900 RMK for six seasons because it never let me down and I was seeing and hearing about Poo 800's going down much too often. I didn't get an '11 Pro because I was waiting to see if the engine issues were sorted out. It seems they have been. Now I'm fairly confident my '12 Pro should have a solid engine.

I would like to see all three on the same dyno, the same day - with the break-in complete. I've read posts on another forum about the Pro being in the low 150's and also read about the ETECH being low to mid 150's. Whatever the true numbers are, I don't think there's a 20 hp spread.

i also have saw and read the Pro is about 150+
if those numbers are true i did the HP to weight ratio in 154 vs 155
Doo 163.9hp dry weight 464 =2.829
Poo 150hp dry weight 431=2.873

also here is a good link about the Pro RMK http://www.snowmobile.com/manufacturers/polaris/2012-polaris-800-prormk-review-1442.html
