I'm the one that said said you aint makin over 180hp with a y-pipe and can. And i will stand by that!! Also the M1000 only makes 168hp stock out of the box. I ride a M1000 myself and have been told by everyone that i've let try it that it's the best running M1000 they have rode or seen.. Maybe that's why i have people from mutliple provinces and even people from the states that phone me at the shop to discuss set-ups for there 1000's. I've been workin in the sled industry since i was 14 and well that makes it more than 20years in the industry for me. You probably dont like timing keys either that advance timing.

I agree with the y pipe/can addition. You are not making 180+hp with that. I also own a M1000 and have basically tried everything with mine. I probably would have been better off just buying a turbo off the start because thats how much tinkering/trying out different products/money spent i have done. Its all about the rider. I have seen many people make POS sleds look pretty good on the hill. Each to their own I guess. Myself i will stand by my 1000 because i like the way its setup now for my style of riding. It is definately not the fastest sled (i dont know where that idea came from because mountain sleds are not fast) but i would put money down that the 1000 motor has the most torque or low end out of any 2 stroke on the hill with the right tuning. And yes i said 2 stroke because you cant compare a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke. Also on the hp issue i got my sled dyno'd on a chassis dyno and out of the 190-200 hp i'm making at the crank, only 89 hp is going down to the ground.

Hey there do you ride flatland with your 1000 at all? If not have you tryed timing key? I run one and it's wicked. I have a 3 degree. Revs way faster than stock.

yeah mostly flatland, a couple trips a year to the hills. I was thinking of trying a key, just dont really want to touch the sled because it's working so well right now!

I wouldn't use the timing key for flatland it's way to harsh in midrange for flatland. Are you coming to MM4? I will be there.

Not sure if any of the "800s are faster" idiots ever went to school?

The dummy that says that there is only 6bhp in a Y and can obviously hasn't a clue or rides something that only gets 6hp from all that money.

Let me guess... You have several monster stickers that theoretically should give you 200 "bhp" (bullsh*t horse power) lol

So I guess none of you are argueing that the M1000 is the fastest after changing out the Government Y pipe and Catilytic Convertor? Good.

It is difficult to beleive that some people think that a 1000 cc engine is heavier that a 700cc engine (the 1000 has bigger holes for the bigger pistons).

Last guy that told me that my T cat was a heavy pig was sitting on a Polaris Storm that weighed 10# heavier because I threw away the steel skis and he didn't.

Smaller engine doesn't necessarily mean lighter. One of the heaviest sleds I ever got unstuck was a Yamaha Phazer.

I don't drink because it would make me a bad rider/driver.

An M1000 is a M8 with a bigger muffler (tossed mine) and a longer track (for better climbing). So, removing the muffler makes the 1000 lighter than the 600???

If you think that the M1000 (truth in advertising claims it's the fastest) isn't faster stock you're not very intelligent or excusing your own little man syndrome. 164bhp is MORE. Add another 14bhp for the Y and the can makes it 178 bhp  simpler to understand now?

what year 600 is heavier 1992

The dummy that says that there is only 6bhp in a Y and can obviously hasn't a clue or rides something that only gets 6hp from all that money.

There are a lot of idiots that don't seem smart enough to know that the Y pipe is an emissions POS and that's why the hp goes up with a new exhaust manifold that has a little better shape. Probably not born back in the mid 70s when the cars got POS restricive exhaust manifolds for emissions.

The Government requires emissions on snowmobiles now. The M1000 has 4 spark plugs and 4 coils for emissions and mileage. Today the '06 M7 used 6 gallons. Buddies M1000 used 6 gallons and MY M1000 used 5 gallons. Facts are facts.

I always highmark. The Renegade 800 and the Dragon 800 didn't work so great. My M1000 was highest and fastest. M7 was second highest and Richard's Dragon 800 got the same air as my buddies M1000.

None of the other 8 sleds bothered to try.

k buddy I've had 3 M1000, all 3 had Y-pipe, 4" air intake, v-force reeds, and jazz can. I had 1 of them on a dyno, results 176hp with warm shop air add cold air and you might hit 180. as for weight you B.C guys really do have the good green stuff, i'm a cat guy but even i know they are not the lightest. peice of advice dont piss off to many people on here with your cocky additude because when you need help they won't be there.
