Anyone have a 20T top gear for an XP they would want to part with?

The 146 is going to a 154 soon, I was considering a 19 but I am already a lightweight and don't need so much bottom end snap.

Racer's Edge just bought one in for my buddy but he already picked one up from team when he got his clutch . Give them a call, they called him today.

Not to highjack a thread but I have clutched, and piped my stock XP 154. Would changing a top gear be another thing to try?? I'm finding just not enough power ............. guess I could lose weight but thats not nearly as much fun. :d:beer:

yes ! you will get a noticable difference in bottom end and unless ur a lake racer, you will not notice the top speed loss

Not enough power.......i know the feeling......oh to be able to afford a turbo!

Mine would have a 21T now. A stock 146 has a 23T. I want to go to a 19T if I'm reading this right then. Where do you get one, couldn't find in Brp catalogue.

Any stock 146 800R I have seen has a 21/45. Most 154's come with the 21/45. Some 154's reportedly came with a 19 from BRP.

If you are running a 146, leave it at 21 unless you are over 250lbs, then go to a 20T. A 19 is too low for a 146.

On a 154 many people go to a 19T for more bottomend snap. I am going to a 20T as I am not a huge guy and I am going to the 2.5" track this year and I would rather keep my track speed up.

Apparently many people have tried getting a 20T from their BRP dealers but no such luck and BRP doesn't list one. (Likely why more people go with a 19)

The Racers Edge in South Calgary has a selection of gears, I am sure Specialty Sleds has them in Edm. Cudney's website has them, Roosterbuilt can get them and so on.

Dropping a gear tooth won't give you more power, but it can make better use of the power available. If you want more bottomend snap as mentioned, try going down a tooth. Again clutching is key, clutch engagement rpm, pin weight for perfect rpm on pulls, even belt deflection and belt wear all contributes to effective power use.

Awesome thanks, ya I run a 154 and I'm around 250lbs so the 19 is looking good.

2008 146" XP came with 23/45. 154" had 21/45, 163" had 21/49.

I'm running 19/45 on my 146" with a 2.5" camo extreme, tried 21t, 20t, and the 19t works the best for me. need the 102 link chain though, too much slack in the stock 104 link.

I think you have a 102 already doc. mine came with a 104 with the 23/45 and when I put the 19t in the adjuster was almost 3/4 into the nut when adjusted correctly. I just carry the 104 as a spare. here's a handy little chart, shows gear ratios, top speeds, and recommended chain lengths for the different combos....

Yup I just checked and the 154's doo have a 102. Also I guess you can drop two teeth and keep the same chain but anymore than that and you have to get a smaller chain.
