i havent seen those tires areound much but i am intrigued about these avalanche extremes...

google them and you'll see they are one of the highest rated, and yet, most affordable of all........smart economical decision :)

we have sold a lot of them this season, and i mean a lot!!!

The avalanche tires are great winter tire only issue with them even the E rated tires have a low weight rating. So if you plan on hauling a lot of weight or towing a large trailer i would not run Avalanche tires.

load range e(10ply) tires are rated right up with the best of them(any other winter tire)..........and much more economical

Doesn't the load range rating (Ie, E D etc) define the wieght rating the tire is capable of? I had always believed that to be true...

Yes that is the universal coding............load range c = 6ply, lrd = 8ply, lre = 10ply(for the huge majority of tire manufacturers). But each tire still has a specific maximum weight rating, that is available on most manufacturer websites. Always good to check on that when pulling huge trailers. Regular 28 foot sled trailer with 5 sleds and junk is nothing for a 1 ton srw truck with 10ply tires(lre)............

Being e rated or 10 ply is not the load rating for the tire it's the load index number on the tire that tells you the tire weight carring capacity.

Not all of the sizes that are E rated or have 10 ply have a very high weight capacity. I know this because a freind bought a set of 16 inch e rated Avalaches for his Chey and latter found out he mite as well have bought P rated winter tires as they have the same weight capacity.

you really need to study what you're posting......... Not all these lt tires are 10 ply or load range e.......... As you can see most 1 ton trucks require the lre(10ply) tires............ You're friend probably bought the 6 ply 16" tires, which are still rated more than a p metric tire, but nowhere near a 10ply -- he obviously bought the wrong tires, as they make 10ply and 6ply 16" tires-- i would suspect they were 245/75r16lt to fit a 2500hd chevy, right?

Duratrac with studs all the way. Just installed a set on my 3500 CUMMINS on the 1 st of Nov. First trip to Revelstoke with 3 sleds in a 27 ft enclosed, came around a trun in Rodgers pass going into the first avey tunnel. I saw nothing but lights slamed on the brakes and the roads were S**t at the time. stoped on a dime. Great tire

I had posted there entire list so that anyone that was interested in buying there tires could see all the sizes and there capacities. The frist 4 you highlighted prove what i was saying the they are 10 ply rated but all have far less then a 3000lbs weight rating. Now the 2 tire sizes they added last year both have more of a industry standard weight rating for a 10 ply tire.

If you check, most winter tires are down comparatively to an all-season or hiway or off-hiway(mudder) tires anyway............mostly due to the softer(silica/silicone etc enhanced) tire compositions

the first 4 tires are either 1/2 ton or older 3/4 ton tires........ Can't carry more than what the tires are rated at anyway........

Avalache tires on our Explorer are awesome, thing goes anywhere, can't tell when the roads are icy. P series Blizzaks on my F150 tires have higher weight ratings than the LT series Goodyears that came with the truck, go figure.

I have Goodyear Ultra grip 10 ply - grip well on ice and have not clogged up in heavy snow yet - on a Ram 3500

I run the goodyear territorys, by far the best bang for your buck. Had a set of duratracs on my 05 dodge and they were awesome, lasted the entire time I had that truck but they were almost $1400 installed. Bought some territorys for my 08 dodge last year which I have since transferred over to my 11 dodge and are basically the same tire. They are both e rated, both winter rated by the RAC, both have an aggressive tread pattern, both are studdable. The only difference is that I paid $880 installed for them. Duratracs are good but in my opinion they are way overpriced. The territory is a canadian tire exclusive tire so they get a way better deal on them because they can purchase such a high volume and thus they pass the savings on to the consumer. The guy at fountain tire told me that since this territory has come out their sales on duratracs are steadily declining

the kelly safari tsr is basically the same tire......much cheaper, but doesn't come in near as many sizes........
