Dealers get paid for PDI, some musta dropped the ball a bit there also I would think.
Lenny is right. Read a thread on BRP Community last night where a dealer was asking if anyone had found loose chains on the G4's after only 50 kms? He said customer had clunking noise from new and brought it back to dealer. Tech said he tightened chain adjuster 12 turns!! He absolutely got flamed by other dealer techs for not checking it at PDI. His excuse was it is no longer on PDI sheet for the new G4. This is why some dealers need to rethink their business IMO. Just because its not there doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

If this is more widespread than we think it is then BRP needs to make it right and soon. Funny how peeps threaten to jump to flavor of the day though? Skidoo was a huge beneficiary of Polaris and there engine woes and broken driveshafts and now you go back. Lol. We saw this in 07-08 with our engine and axle issues as well. The manufacturers need to add another year of testing and test 1 year at least on the production model as well instead of just the proto's IMO. Paying $16000-$17000 is ridiculous for something that the consumer is not happy with. The thing I find confusing is why only a certain segment is having these belt issues? That is what puzzles me.

Read six posts up from your post, thinking it is VERY wide spread problem.
So is the rubber chain.

Kinda think the G4 honeymoon hype is over and reality is setting in.

make sure the "Black dust" is not your clutch wearing into your cover, since you cut the back piece out it moves around more..seen this on a couple sleds..the black dust was beltguard

I only cut below the rear carrier clip.
It's belt dust.

Honest to god though Mike. I have talked to some dealers with zero issues where others have lots? I'm just saying its not happening to all the machines. I think this will come down to a serial number segment? Bad run of bushings or something and some clutches out of tolerance?

I have to laugh at you guys that are blaming the riders for the blown belts. When you buy something brand new you should be able to ride the snot out of it from the box. If i wanted to putts around all day protecting my belt id buy an old thundra to take to the mountains. We ride hard and expect our equipment to keep up. Brp has a problem that needs to be fixed pronto. When guys are blowing belts every 50 km thats not right i dont care what anybody says. Its no different the buying a bramd new truck and the tranny blowing after a day amd the dealer trying to tell you that you drove it to hard.

Didnt you hear? They figured this whole thing out. BRPs designated spokesmonkey posted about it. The irresponsible people that went and rode their snow machine with the foam on the clutch cover that obviously needs to be removed are the only ones having trouble. Take that piece of foam out and all calibration and alignment issues are cured.

Put 80km on the sled today at Chappel, clicker 1 and sled constant at 8000.
Dropped the belt full height of top cogs on belt in one day of use. Black dust every where.


The belt dropping that much that soon is odd to me. Never seen that myself on a xp or xm.

I think people needs to quit bitching lol half the people bitching doesn't even own a G4 !! I do my maintenance every couple days and have zero issues , my 14 xm I put over 8000 km with no issues hoping to do the same with this one . 500 km so far no issues . If you can't do simple maintenance on your sled you probably shouldn't own one :)

The belt was just a wee bit low when we started out.
There are no cords hanging out but you can see the wear on the top belt lugs compared to a new bet already.
Black dust all over clutches and out to brake on boards.
Belt dust all over already.

Going back next time for a longer run into Renshaw just to put miles on.

One guy said he had the dealer check alignment on his belt eater and it was good.
