16 Axys vs 13 Pro handling

Well after checking over the new to me axys, Dielectric grease in the connections and relays, checking motor mounts, and setting belt deflection which was way off 2-3/8". I finally got the two side by side to compare. Starting with just picking the two up by the front bumper the 16 feels a lots heavier. The 16 is chaincase and e-start vs. belt drive and pull start of the 13. They both have empty fuel tanks and full oil tanks. Maybe between the e-start and chain case is the cause of it but it feels like more than 20lbs heavier though.

Standing on the boards and shifting weight back and forth from running board to running board the 13 moves a lot more. The handlebars move 4" on the 13 and 1-1/2'' on the 16, and with a pull on the handle bar the 13 comes up on edge way easier than the 16. The 13 does have offset spindles and adjustments to spring tension where the 16 is set to 39" with stock spring specs.


I want to find some flat ground and a couple more scales and do some weight comparisons. I really liked the way the pro handles and from all the reading it sounds like the axys is way more agile than the pro but goofing around in the yard it seems alot more planted.
Any comments or feedback is appreciated.

So
You will miss ur pro every day you look at it
but on day 3 of riding with ur Axys u will see how ur buds
are tired and ur still pulling sick lines like it was day 2
lol
its hard to compare with out some real miles under it
and set the skis as close as u can never mind the trail
save the brap for the top

Sounds like you need to setup the suspension on the 16 to match the pro if you want them to feel the same on the dirt

'' if you want them to feel the same on the dirt'' haha I do realize that they handle differently on dirt than the snow. I was just doing a crude comparison. I havn't stepped on an axys before and was surprised how planted it feels. So i thought ill give a report, maybe start a little discussion, get a little feedback as the snowmobiling threads are tapering off. So keep em coming.

Change the shocks on that Axys to Raptors and don’t look back. Plus the offset spindles on that Pro makes it easier. Put offsets on the Axys and you will only have to think about turning. Not apples to apples quite yet.

Don't forget to check the coolant hose where it runs very close to the bolts that hold the recoil in place.

Went to 36" react style front end on my 16 and its super fun. Still like my pros too though but after a full winter with the narrow front on the Axys I would have to narrow the pros.
They're all a blast - the 13 600 is fun but now sits most times!

Ya a 36" front end on the axys is sweet for sure. Threw a trenchers kit on mine and love it. Now the wifes sks feels planted. But going from mine to hers and then to my friends 2013 pro, I don't know I rode the pros anymore, feels like riding a brick by comparison.

Also check the front crossbar right behind the pipe, the pipe contacts the aluminum crossbar and rubs through it. The 16 must be an SKS if it has the chaincase? Does it have the 2.4 or 2.6" track? You've probably heard about clipping the 2.6. Better ski rubbers are a good upgrade as well but you most likely know about them too coming off a pro.

I have clipped both of my 3" tracks as well. After 1000 miles on the 17, i noticed wear, it was not as bad as the 2.6", but still worth the money.

The e-start is a huge weight added to the front of your AXYS. Probably close to 30 lbs with battery, starter, ring gear and hardware/wiring. I would ditch it as you will use less energy starting it than riding with that penalty. If you really want it to perform we have offset spindles in stock, belt drive kit and clutching to wake it up. Ski rubbers and track clips too. You can even go farther if you want an SLP pipe/can to make it sing.

Careful of the shipping cost.

As stated many times and on our website, we just use the Canada Post app to work out the price. The problem comes when ordering multiple items and the web store just adds shipping together and it can get high. Then a call should be made to the office and we will weigh the package and give you a quote from the app via weight and size alone.

Axys vs. Pro handling.

Well, I'm putting a tunnel wrap on my pro this summer. I know it's not exactly the same as a snow checked Axys (powder coated tunnel) but that and my new tether should improve it's handing such that it will now be barely distinguishable from an Axys.
I think a couple Axys sticks will put me over the top.

Just got 15 sets of the Polaris Ultimate Ski Rubbers bagged up today! These are a must for Polaris. We also have the Phantom Teth-Airs, reversible scratchers, off-set spindles and TKI belt drive kits I also have a few of the relays in stock that often corrode. I do clutching and track clips too for Polaris.
