I noticed just recently this noise coming from the engine on my 06 BF 750. It sounded to me like the valves needed adjustment, so i adjusted them and the sound was still there. Then removed the cam chain adjusters and reset them, still there. I noticed if i turned the primary clutch back and forth quickly i could here the sound, and kind of pinpointed it down to the starter area. Removed the starter and there is another gear there that the starter turns and it seems to have alot of play and makes the sound i am hearing when turning the clutch.
Has anyone had this problem or heard of what it might be?
