Last year, I didn't have any issues since I washed the ice out after every ride in the snow. Then again, I only go for single day trips in the winter. I took the a-arm guards off this winter as suggested by my Yamaha dealer to minimize the risk of tearing the CV boots. However, I got a small tree jammed in there last weekend and am thinking of leaving them on from now on. ...it seems to me that the risk of damage is greater if they're off.

Anyone here have issues tearing their CV boots with the a-arm guards left on?

Mine get really packed with ice and snow .And if i don't clean them out then the ice pushes the boots of the axels.and the grease gets everywhere.Happened last week end
